This makes me nervous although I know as an intelligent human I should ignore it as silly echo chamber fodder.
On the podcast over at Big Blue View, guest Scott Wright, says he is certain the Giants are not taking a QB. His reasoning in a nutshell is that the Giants are "all-in" on Manning to be the QB for a few years and getting him pieces to win now is what Eli Manning wants. He basically says that they want to make Manning happy and he is basically going to push them away from getting his successor.
And finally, Scott Wright actually says if he were in their position he would take a QB..
I understand Manning won't want them to draft a guy that will unseat him within a year but what kind of organization lets their aging QB make their draft decisions like that.
I would hope Gettleman is not that weak. I would hope Mara would not intervene in the decision-making if he has such lousy instincts, I would hope Shurmur would have more backbone.
The Giants clearly need to select a QB here.

Eli has good years left
The Giants don’t love the top QBs in the draft
The QB they want is gone at number 1
Gettleman believes the Giants failures had more to do with a poor OL, anemic running game, and injuries to skill players
Eli doesn’t get to pick how he goes out, and I’m pretty sure he’s well aware of that. Shaun O’hara made some good points on wfan today. No one is saying Rivers or Big Ben need to hang it up. The Chargers invested in their OL the last few years and have extended Rivers career. The Steelers probably have the best group of skill players in the league. It’s not crazy for Gettleman to think that he can temporarily build around Eli.
BigBen is the source of that retirement talk. And his supporting cast is tops in the league. Also, Ben has been banged up off and on throughout his career. He probably should consider retirement for that reason.
No one is seriously considering replacing Rivers this year.
Everyday, we hear a different idea
QB, no QB
Barkley
Chubb
Nelson
Trade down
Trade up
I love that no one has settled on one theory.
Thank you, DG
100%. Drafting anything other than a QB at 2 is "too cute" in my mind as well.

well I like it if it is a smokescreen. I am terrified if they don't get one of the QBs.
I think many of us on the "draft a QB" train think this is a rare opportunity you do not normally have. You have a number 2 pick in a draft with at least 4 potential QB stars in it. Possibly more. This is a great QB class. Many of us have seen these guys and we agree with the clamor by other teams to get up into position to get one. The Jets, Broncos, Cards, Bills, Fins are dying to be where we are. Why would we look this gift horse in the mouth. Furthermore, if you build up the team and have no QB in 2 years, you are stuck overpaying for the position.
We feel if Gettleman can't come to the obvious conclusion that there is a star QB to be had at #2 he should get the hell out of the way.
Thank you, sir.
That's probably my thinking. Rebuild the team It's a very good draft in the first 3 rounds for the areas we need help in (outside offensive tackles). While I'd probably prefer not to go down to 12, if the Bills make a crazy offer I'd take it.
It'd allow us to sort out the oline, get a RB, CB, LB in the first 3 rounds.
Outside of a true new franchise QB, it's far more transformative than even a top tier RB or DE.

you know what, i'm in the get a qb camp, but if they dont take a qb trade down for a haul is the best option. fix the oline, get a pass rusher and grab one of the stellar backs.
Correct. And his reasoning on NYG being all-in on Eli seems to be based on the things NYG has openly said about the QB position over the past couple of months which, while it definitely suggests confidence in our QBs, is also exactly the same thing you'd say if you didn't want to tip your hand that you were going to be drafting a QB.
In other words, more empty chatter about empty chatter.
I don't know where your feeling is coming from. By most accounts DG, so far, has been terrific. He is clearly demonstrating he has a plan and is working it. IMHO, we have already been in the dark period for years. DG is the one leading us out of the dark period. Have a little faith. If the new regime believes that Eli can still play at a high level with a better supporting cast, then jump on board and trust they know what they are doing.
I have considered this possibility actually... Lamar Jackson or Luke Falk...
Eventually, you end up up in the same place for ill or good because you need all of the pieces.

Mara & Tisch meeting with Rosen & I assume Darnold is a huge deal IMO. I can't think of the last time that happened.
Everyone would like to be in the playoffs every year with a smooth QB transition to a franchise QB but that rarely happens (Brady and Rodgers maybe). Just prepare for it because it is going to happen no matter what happens in this draft.
Yeah, that is really a team that is going for it
They're changing the culture of the locker room, the 2017 chemistry was dreadful.
Or have any sources within the Org to even make an educated guess.
This "Draft Expert" has one of the dumbest theorys I have heard yet
Quote:
Has absolutely NO clue what the Giants are going to do. He has no sources in the NFL and never has.
Thank you, sir.
+2. Eli has absolutely NO say in who the Giants draft.

Don’t see it. They will give Webb a shot before a 2 nd rounder. It’s a QB at 2 or Webb gets his look.
Agreed. QB at#2 or not at all.
What qualifies this guy as a draft expert?
What qualifies this guy as a draft expert?
The article does mention that the Huddle Report scored him as one of the more accurate draft analysts.
That definitely does happen but I don't think it applies to Scott Wright. If I'm not mistaken, his website is more of a hobby than a job for him, and I think he has actually spent less time doing draft analysis in recent years (compared to a few years back) as his primary career has grown.
