about a year ago. Some might think Caravan is lame, but we saw most areas of the country, including Aranal and Guanaccaste and let someone else do all the driving. It was fantastic. We stayed in great hotels and ate great meals everywhere and it was relatively inexpensive and a fairly short flight from Virginia Beach. We've already discussed going back.
for work. I stayed in Playa Langosta and it was great. We would rent a house for a month and work out of the house. The best part about Playa Langosta is that Tamorindo is a 15 min walk or 5 min cab ride away. Both places have great beaches, but Tamorindo is more of night life, and playa langosta is great for the family..
I went there a few times. Great place to learn to surf, if you'd never done it before. If you're good, you can swim out further and get some big waves with the locals.
It was known as being too "touristy" when I was there, and by that I think people meant there are 4 bars instead of just 1. It was hardly touristy by most standards. But, that was >5 years ago it may be more developed now.
Tamarindo was fun. We stayed at a large, all-inclusive... Â
..for 3 nights which was within walking distance to the main drag.
Started the week with 4 nights at the Borinquen Mountain Resort & Spa to do the hiking/volcano/ziplining/hotspring/cover-yourself-in-mud-like Dutch-from-Predator-thing.
Rincon De La Vieja was the name of the Volcano we hiked.
Zipline is unreal - over 1 kilometer
Volcano Arenal tour as well
White water rafting/tubing is fun!
Beaches are awesome as well
I’d recommend a day of activity then a day of relaxing
Zipline - ( New Window )
I would avoid Playas del coco.
Urban, dirty, crowded.
No good.
Glad I stayed in Playa Hermosa.
Only two beaches I went to
Be careful when you go
Rainy season might not be the best time if you want to enjoy the beach expierence
He was kicked out for bringing weed into the country.
