BBI Mock Draft – DISCUSSION Thread

Matt G : 4/1/2018 10:46 pm
We will use this as a discussion thread to keep the SELECTIONS thread uncluttered. These threads will be used for the duration of the entire draft.

Once a team is on the clock, they will have two hours to make a selection. If a team goes on the clock after 4pm, their two hour window will roll over to the next day. For example, if you go on the clock at 4:30pm, you will have until 9:30 am to make a selection. Picks may be made between 6pm and 9am if GMs are online and following the draft thread. The time limit only applies during the 9am to 6pm timeframe. If the two hour time limit expires, I will make a pick using any list that the GM for the team has sent me in advance (send lists to the email address in my profile) or in the absence of a list, I will use the GBN Big Board with a little discretion so as not make an obvious dumb pick (i.e.: Philadelphia Eagles won’t be taking a QB in the 1st round this year). If a GM misses two consecutive picks without providing a prospect list or making some form of contact with me (email or posting on the draft thread) the spot will be reassigned to one of the BBIers who have expressed an interest to fill the vacancy.

Please utilize the BBI Mock Draft Spreadsheet . The spreadsheet contains the draft order (RD1-6) by team and GM with a fairly comprehensive list of both available and taken prospects based on the GBN Big Board (as well as several other prospects that did not make the GBN Big Board). I will try to keep the spreadsheet and thread updated as often as possible.

Browns draft through 4 rounds...
Lionhart28 : 4/11/2018 10:43 am : link
1.1 - Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
1.4 - Baker Mayfield, QB, Oklahoma
2.33 - Taven Bryan, DL, Florida
2.35 - Tyrell Crosby, OT, Oregon
2.64 - Obo Okoronkwo, DE/OLB, Oklahoma
4.114 - Parry Nickerson, CB, Tulane

I, unlike many, really like Baker Mayfield as a player. I don't see any similarities to Johnny Manziel aside from his "swagger". He is very accurate, tough, athletic and a good leader on the field. We also added the best player in the draft in playmaker Saquon Barkley who is going to give us a lot of flexibility on offense. Crosby is a great athlete with good power who we hope can step in day 1 to replace Joe Thomas at LT. Taven Bryan is a little raw but an outstanding athlete. We intend to move him around the front to give Gregg Williams some real flexibility. Okoronkwo is a one-trick pony edge rusher right now, but he's really good at it. With his size, he could project to DE or stand up OLB, we'll figure that out as we go but we needed to add to the pass rush. Lastly, Nickerson is a little slight of frame but a tremendous athlete. He's fast, physical and a ball hawk. He'll be a great fit for the press coverage we'll want to run with a lot of our pressure packages.
Damn you Lionhart
Mike in NY : 4/11/2018 10:47 am : link
I thought with his injuries and size questions, Nickerson would fly under the radar and I could nab him much later. I think he has the skills to be an effective nickel CB in the NFL. With the way offensive schemes are these days a good nickel CB is important.
I really wanted Josh Jackson at the top of round 2
Lionhart28 : 4/11/2018 10:50 am : link
But alas, he didn't last that long. Cleveland's corner depth chart is brutal.
I have CHI pick, but will give him another few mins

He's scheduled by many as a 4th rounder, but to me he's better than that so I wanted to grab him now. After the first couple rounds I don't think anyone can really predict how high players will go, so if you like somebody you gotta grab 'em
Tavarius Moore
Rick in Dallas : 4/11/2018 11:45 am : link
Big time riser in this draft ran a 4.32 forty and a 6.5 three cone at his college day. Was not invited to combine. Was defensive MVP of East West game.
Cowboys had him in for a private workout plus the 30 national visit. He is on the radar of multiple teams.
I like RJ McIntosh
SirYesSir : 4/11/2018 11:48 am : link
- think he'd be an interesting mid-round guy for the giants to develop as a 3-4 end type. nimble for his size
Detroit's pick is due in under an hour
Mike in NY : 4/11/2018 12:44 pm : link
I have narrowed down my list to the top two players so I will likely be able to pick fairly quickly after I get on the clock (assuming I am not in a meeting).
Surprised that Ian Thomas was available
Mike in NY : 4/11/2018 1:38 pm : link
He was on my short list in Round 3. Ravens need a TE and he represents tremendous value at this point

BBI Mock Draft is more important than a test! In all seriousness, nice pick with Cappa. When I mentioned that there were 3 names from my Round 3 list, one was Thomas, another was Cappa, and the third player is still on the board

No worries. Hope you aced it. Like you just did with Cappa. I was really hoping he’d make it to my 2nd 4th round pick.
