I've spent so much time this offseason looking at the

offensive side of the ball. While I am interested in pass rushers on defense, I think I am most curious to see your write-ups of the corners. What was probably our best group on the field just 2 years ago has really become a huge need.
NYG Approach
jbeintherockies : 4/8/2018 11:03 am : link
The NYG Approach is missing from the RB, WR and TE draft reviews. I really like reading Sy's thoughts on what the Giants should do at each position.

Sy, do you have the time to provide the Approach for the first three reviews?

we need a Sy'56 appreciation thread

this is just awesome
Looking forward to Sys DL profiles

Sy’56 rocks, and he has developed a flair for the dramatic.
Big Blue Blogger : 4/12/2018 5:51 am : link
Holding back the QB reviews sets up a great season finale. Does Sam Darnold get Sy's rose? Will Josh Allen be voted off the island? Did Kate Mara secretly marry Art Rooney II in the Tower of Joy and give birth to Josh Rosen, making him the legitimate heir?

Are now added, reshuffled overall and these pretzels are making me thirsty
you know with this chart
gidiefor : Mod : 4/13/2018 7:31 am : link
Vita Vea is starting to stand out -- I hadn't really looked at this guy very much before this -- but his dominance on Sy's chart made me look at him a little closer

Holy crap -- is all I can say -- this a massive Snacks-like player -- he eats the field up and he can move

You put him and Snacks on the field together -- and you have something like the Pittsburgh steel wall of old or the Vikings Purple people eaters of old -- I mean - it would be a legendary kind of scary scary defensive line the Giants would have -- legendary!
I'm having Tomlinson, Snacks, Vea dreams
gidiefor : Mod : 4/13/2018 7:33 am : link
the kinda dreams I would be wanting every Oline that faces the Giants to have

Oh I could like very much to see this -- I really could

This idea has powerful appeal. Could happen!

It’s interesting to go back and read some of Sys rankings
mfsd : 4/22/2018 10:05 pm : link
from previous years. He had Dalvin Tomlinson, Alvin Kamara and Cooper Kupp ranked pretty high, compared to a lot of other draftniks, IIRC

He did not have Erik Flowers graded that highly in 2015
Lots of value
SCGiantsFan : 4/23/2018 7:44 am : link
At the top of the second round. So He one or two will be pushed down to the 2nd with all the Qbs expected to be taken. >;)

Here's a quick summary of Sy's first-round grades.
Big Blue Blogger : 4/23/2018 11:33 am : link
Barkley and Rosen stand out as attractive options at #2. Granted, we can argue endlessly about the value proposition at RB, or the injury risk with Rosen. Other high-graded prospects are less compelling at #2, but intriguing in various trade-down scenarios. The 34th pick should offer good value at one or more positions of obvious need: CB, OL, WR, possibly DL and others.

Ok so I started watching Derwin James tape
gidiefor : Mod : 4/23/2018 5:25 pm : link
OMG!

He's awesome too

I could definitely see him in Blue -- he's fast, he's hard, he plays smart, he's an amimule!!

I can't decide who I like better him or Vea - but we need another player like him in the backfield -- he's got more juice than Antrel Rolle in his prime

Some of his freshman year tape is even better. I think he protected the knee a bit in 2017 to be honest.

Someone is going to get a star with him

I am very excited about this draft and am hopeful that this whole draft will be great for the Giants.

I want to give a shout out to Sy for his rankings and to Joey for preparing that awesome spreadsheet, which I will download and reference tonight.

While I am looking forward to the draft, a very close second of happiness will be the departure of all of the "why the Giants should/shouldn't draft specific players and positions" threads.

Go Giants!

Equanimeous St. Brown I would freak out. That kid grew up down the block from me. I used to see him and his younger brothers catching balls from the Juggs machine all of the time. Dad was a nice dude, little eccentric. Mom is a sweetheart.
Jayln Holmes

Interesting DL/Edge guy that Sy likes. He may be a good fit in round 4 for the Giants. Sy write up
....

8 – Jalyn Holmes – Ohio State – 6’5/283

Grade: 75

Strong Points:

-Has the NFL ready frame and power presence right now
-Flashes an array of developed rush moves
-When the light is on, his impact is near top notch when he punches the blocker

¬Weak Points:

-Inconsistent all around when it comes to production and effort
-Urgency and quick reactions aren’t there
-Pad level gets too high, makes him an easy target

Summary:

Senior that struggled to get a ton of playing time because of the overcrowded defensive line at OSU. Holmes gets people excited because of what he would flash on a weekly to bi-weekly basis. His size and short area burst is enough to send power blockers back a couple steps. He has also shown the ability to rip under blockers and make plays in the backfield. I think if he played a little lighter, 10-15 pounds, he could be a terror. He could break out in the NFL if he ever gets more consistent snaps, but at the same time his intensity needs to be there no matter what when his number is called, something I didn’t always see in college.

NFL Comparison: Cameron Jordan / NO

I should have written "that Sy sees as a guy with upside potential."
Sy style of play comparison is Case Keenum
