They have to go back home with something positive.
They're all game 7's for Vegas going forward.
I couldn't stand him. He and Crosby.
Over time, not sure if I matured or just mellowed, but I have grown to appreciate both. It's amazing to watch their skill. I don't think either is necessarily the equivalent of Jordan of the NHL, but both are among the all-time greats of the game. They do things that make me shake my head in disbelief on the biggest stage (well Ovi hasn't until now).
Looking back they'll be the faces of this era. Maybe Kane too if he gets another ring.
Hate them if you want, especially if you're a fan of a rival team like the Rangers, but man these guys are fun to watch to me.
this is a game (for now).
Last game I said holy shit this guy really became a solid top 6 player.
This game I have, so far, said holy shit this guy has been in the league this long and still makes rookie mistakes
Oshie has had a great game
Oshie and Kuznetsov have been great this series.
forgetting about positional value, I'd take Johansson in that "trade" 10 times out of 10.

Oh definitely MJ is more talented, just saying the Caps are one game away from a cup and DSP has been an important part of that run. Hopefully we get to see the real MJ next season. Honestly eventhough he wasn't productive point wise in the playoff games he played, he added a skill dimension we were missing for most of the year.

Going to be extreme. Caps have been dominant in the series after losing game 1. But Vegas can't let it end on this note.
I'd offer more than that for Hanifin contingent on signing him, no clue why Hanifin would be available even with a glut of D like CAR has. Skinner is a UFA after this season and is 26 so he'd be a big part of a rebuild heading into his prime.
Hanifin is 21 and an RFA this year.
He's trending toward a top pair D.
I'd even have Faulk interest.

LeBrun on #Canes:
"Jeff Skinner, I think, will be the first guy out." Trade ask is a first-round pick and a prospect.
Also listening on Justin Faulk "and, to some degree," Noah Hanifin.
"But that's just a tip of the iceberg. They want to change the team there in Carolina."
No idea what it is, fans love the guy, but it seems like FO's/coaches maybe don't. I do think some fans overrate him, I love his one-timer on the PP, but I don't love his overall game. As a person he seems to be second to none in the NHL. One of the most charitable athletes I've seen in any sport, and always seems like he's having fun.
Lavy denies it staunchly so who knows if it's true, but Bergevin and Therrien also said he wasn't being shopped and they had an impending NMC which was looming in MTL.
My prediction?
Handshakes.
Though I've been wrong all playoffs.
And though I think Kuznetsov should get Conn Smythe (depending on what happens tonight), I believe Ovie gets it and I have no issue with that.
Hoping for an OT.
Is that too much to ask? Playoffs haven't really had much drama at all.

Really Brett? You barely post anymore and your latest contribution is a pearl harbor style attack. Nice.
Congratulations!
I like Skinner a lot, but don't think he's a great fit for NYR right now.
Just off the top of my head, maybe LA is a fit. They need speed and scoring on the wing and may want to take one last shot with this core group.
Speaking of PK, he's now dating Lindsay Vonn. Kind of a random couple
Maybe get a package deal with Skinner and Hanifin for a 1st and Beauvilier + and then extend Skinner.
I just assumed you'd been sent to prison for insider trading by now.
#3 has MTL linked to Zadina (my choice) Kotkaniemi (beat writers and mock drafters choice) or Tkachuk (various rumors).
I wouldn't mind either Zadina or Kotkaniemi. Kotkaniemi projects to a legit NHL top C, but not sure he will play in the NHL next year. Zadina is a silky smooth scorer who will likely be in the NHL next year.
Either way, both top talents I think who will succeed in the NHL.
I've read the Rangers love Wahlstrom and would consider moving up for him, packaging #9 and one of their late 1sts.
He was unreal in the U18 but he was also playing with Jack Hughes. Still, I think he excelled in his own right.
I like him but if he's going to Harvard it's risky. He could pull a Vesey and become a FA or he could be another Donato and eventually sign with the Rangers.

And you didn't try to visit me? :(
I thought both CAR and Calgary should have gone after MAF last year.
Well, the terms of my release specify that I can't associate with....I mean, I didn't know where you were.
I don't know. Trades really are not my forte. I never know what a player on the block would cost and I never would have traded PK Subban (for example).
Everyone should be looking at Hanifin IMO, I get that CAR has a new regime, but what regime does a 21 year old potential top line D-man not fit in?
I could tell Hanifin was going to be good from his U18 days, with Matthews (youngest player in the tournament I believe), Eichel, Milano, Kyle Connor, Dylan Larkin, etc. that US team was stacked.
Hate there is no NHL in the Olympics now. US has some good young talent.

Hanifin is a pretty good trade piece, that's where the Rangers should be looking

When's the next Hockey World Cup?
If they have the 23 and under team again, US, Canada & U23 will all be a great watch
The next World Cup of Hockey is 2020.
I hope they change that format.
Last cup the US lost Matthews, Jones, Eichel, Gostibhere, Gaudreau, Larkin, Trouba, etc. to the North America team.
Was there another U23 team I'm forgetting?

Nope, it was just the one.
I agree the US was hurt the most from it but the U23 was very fun to watch.

was just the North America team in the World Cup of Hockey, which only helped dilute the US talent (and Canada, but they're deeper than the US so it wasn't as bad for them) because each main country had a team, but then it was an U23 team combined of players from the US and Canada who were under 23 and a Team Europe for those players whose countries did not have a team (Slovakia, Norway, France, etc).

Yep.
But how could US then be expected to compete with Canada who had Crosby, Bergeron, Toews, Tavares, Stamkos, Seguin, Getzlaf, Giroux, Marchand, Burns, Doughty, Weber, etc. and Price, Holtby and Crawford in net.
that teams competes in any era with the best of the best.
USA had:
Kane, Oshie, Pacioretty, Backes, Wheeler, Carlson, McDonagh, etc. and Quick, Bishop and Schneider in net.
It's not really close. But if you added Matthews, Gaudreau, Eichel, Jones, Trouba, Werenski, etc. to the US it gets closer.
I hope they change the format for 2020.

Agreed - even without Mcdavid, Scheifle Mackinnon etc, they were still nasty.
Would you add another European team?
Maybe give Slovakia their own team though. Opens up more spots on team Europe for lesser hockey countries.
I expected a much bigger surge from Vegas to start this game.
