Andrew Luck yet to pick up 'The Duke', begin throwing

the goal is to be ready for training camp "without a governor on," Luck added, meaning full participation with no limitations.

I'd be a little worried if I were a Colts fan.

This is what you have to be careful of if you draft Josh Rosen.

No worries. We have Webb to back him up!
Brown Recluse, no offense,

but that's so beyond reality. Luck had major shoulder reconstruction. A torn labrum in a throwing shoulder is about as major as it gets(I've had 2). You are comparing that to a minor soft tissue injury. It's not even remotely in the same conversation other than it's the same body part.
Webb managed to dislocate his left shoulder, requiring surgery
shyster : 4/9/2018 3:57 pm : link
on a play where he was tackled from the right side.

Apparently happened when he put his hand down to the turf to brace his fall.

Guess Webb is just one of those brittle guys you can't depend on for the long term.

As for Luck, if Indy were still sitting in the #3 spot, I'd take his delayed return more seriously. Fact that Colts traded down shows they are confident in medical opinion for Luck's comeback and just being cautious.
Down goes Webb - ( New Window )

I wasn't comparing their injuries at all.

1. Then why deal the 3rd overall pick?
2. Maybe this is why McDaniels said no?

That's incorrect.
From what I understand, Rosen's injury was to the AC Joint ...
Boy Cord : 4/9/2018 4:35 pm : link
... (Acromio Clavicular Joint). Here is my layman's understanding. I'm not sure everyone realizes the shoulder is comprised of two joints.

The one most people think of is the 'ball-and-socket' joint where the ball of the humerus is held in the shoulder cavity by the rotator cuff muscles. This is what is injured when people refer to a dislocated shoulder.

The AC Joint is where the Acromion and the Clavicle meet. This is where Eli hurt his throwing shoulder in 2007. The AC Joint is held together by three ligaments. This is what is injured when people refer to a separated shoulder.

Not all sprains are equal. An AC Joint sprain is rated as a 1, 2, or 3 with 3 being a complete tear of all three ligaments. In the vast majority of cases of non-athletes, there is no need to repair a 3rd-degree separation. The joint will restore virtually all of its strength and flexibility and the only issue will be cosmetic, albeit minor.

Luck's injury is completely different from Rosen's. Luck is obviously in deep shit with his injury. Rosen's is close to a non-event.
When was the last time Luck even threw a football?

No one said anything about Rosen and Lucks injuries having anything to
Brown Recluse : 4/9/2018 4:42 pm : link
do with the other.

It was in reference to the Colts having drafted a franchise QB and potentially losing him at the young age of 28.

Granted, completely different injury situations, and injuries can happen to anyone. But "injury prone" players obviously get hurt more, hence the label. I'd rather not take any extra chances in feeling this way over the next 6 years or so.
The Josh McDaniels thing ...
FStubbs : 4/9/2018 4:43 pm : link
... I'm convinced at this point he was unsure about Luck but willing to take the Colts job because they had the #3 pick, until he was told at the last minute that there was a mandate from ownership to push all their chips in on Luck. It may have come up in a conversation he had about the upcoming QBs. Then he reneged.

At this point the over under on games started by Rosen in 2018 has to be higher than Luck.

They shouldn't have made the Jets trade if they want a better shot at a QB now.

I think they are waiting out AL until he recovers fully, or toast, and, needing SO much, will ride Brissett, tank for
'19 top 10 draft spots , build Reichs system, then plug in AL or a rookie/FA QB.
Jacoby Brissett can play
Go Terps : 4/9/2018 8:11 pm : link
He's not Luck, but a good team can win with Brissett at quarterback. His problem is that he's on the Colts. Though maybe the old Terp Frank Reich can turn things around there.

You are really pushing your angle on winning teams and how they’re constructed. At this point the only QB that can win is a scrambling QB? Jacoby fucking Brissett? Really? The posts are almost beyond Miltons obsession with Rosen

Its mind blowing what this place does to those who were solid posters over the years.

Yes, Jacoby Brissett and Lamar fucking Jackson at 2 overall. Not to mention trade ODB for a ham sandwich and a bag of footballs. We'll be the BC of pro football.
Wow
Go Terps : 4/10/2018 1:02 am : link
Who knew a post complimenting Jacoby Brissett would bring out that type of response. Better to have once been a solid poster than to never have been one, I suppose.
It's possible
fkap : 4/10/2018 8:21 am : link
that the Colts are in a situation where a QB pick at #3 is a complete vote of no confidence in Luck and creates a shitshow. It's possible they weren't all that enamored with the top candidates.

But they could be considering a back up plan of taking one of the second tier QB's who present better value, less controversy with Luck, and more flexibility on how things can work out whether Luck returns to form or not. possible starter if Luck doesn't come back, quality backup (or trade bait) if he does.

considering a QB doesn't have to be an all or nothing situation.
There's no such thing as a....
Britt in VA : 4/10/2018 8:52 am : link
"sure fire, first ballot HOF lock coming out of the draft", no matter what you might believe.

And that was said about Luck ad nausium on BBI for a year or three.

Too many variables.
Generational talent....
Britt in VA : 4/10/2018 8:58 am : link
HOF lock
(Insert whatever tag you've been putting on prospects here)

It's all bullsh-t, and there are no sure things.

And it wasn't just Luck's injury, either. He was struggling before that.

Yeah, I know his team sucks, but that's what happens. Perfect example of how a "sure fire HOF lock" can't just elevate a sh-tty team all by himself.

Learn from it.
Luck was as close to a sure thing as there is/was.

of course here’s always the injury concern, I think that’s buolt into the “HoF” predicitions. Not sure why people don’t realize that.

And the start to Lucks career was among the best ever in the history of the game. His bounce back season in 2016 was fantastic, and with a dogshit team.

So yeah, I don’t agree with you.
Jacoby Brisset support from Terps is hilarious
UConn4523 : 4/10/2018 9:08 am : link
if any other GM drafted Brisset I’m guessing his Jen would be different. But, it’s a Belichick pick so now we get the usual Belichick love.

Sure, you may have a shot of winning with Brisset if the team he’s on is absolutely stacked everywhere else. But good luck building that team.
Brissett..
FatMan in Charlotte : 4/10/2018 9:14 am : link
is the exact type of QB that puts you in "QB Hell".

Not really good enough to be a starter but forced to be.

I have trouble buying in to Terps's scheme to minimize the QB position and take a next man up approach with a cost-controlled priority seeing that this formula really hasn't worked successfully for any franchise.

I always thought QB hell was more Kerry Collins. A Qb good enough to keep you mediocre.
What's starting to get hilarious

I'm not sure where I said Brissett is Aaron Rodgers. I said he can play and a good team can win with him, but the Colts blow. Pretty innocuous comment, it seems to me.
