You don't move an MVP/59 HR guy down in the order just because he's having a rough start. It's a 162 game season. You wait just a bit and let him hit his way out of the slump.

Red Sox did get some seeing eye basehits and as good a hitting team as there are it doesn't take much to get runs.

Seriously, no chance you do that. He’s off to a bad start, you don’t compound it by fucking with his head and unleashing the NY media on Boone for the decision to boot

So of course, Stanton immediately shuts me up with a single to right. I'll go sit in the corner now.

After Sale they have who? They are a great hitting team. It hasn't been their pitchers winning games, they've been coming back and winning late.
A slow start in crappy weather isn’t a disaster

but this Yanks bullpen needs to sharpen up fast. Very few clean innings from them this year so far, Kahnle in an instant jam here tonight.

Effin moron is more worried about the runner on second then walks two in a row.

I don't think the Red Sox pampered their players in spring training worring about October.

They are getting spanked. They aren't prepared. This isn't a matter of a few guys slumping.

Its Boone that is useless. He's abused this bullpen from day 1. He had no business bringing Kahnle into game in which they were down by 4 runs to Sale. Boone is managing like its the post season rather than just taking a loss and he's going to burn this bullpen out. Pitching Robertson 3 days in a row. Using short relievers for multiple innings and 40+ pitch outings. And it isn't even April 15th!

This game should have been mopped up by Germain, Warren and/or Shreve. If Boone can't see that then Cashman better have a talk with him.

Also to refresh your short memories we probably wouldn't have made it past the wild card game without Kahnle and we certainly wouldn't have gotten to game 7 of the ALCS. He and Robertson saved our season last year. This year he and Robertson are being abused.

Boone is in over his head. He has zero feel for th game.

It's obviously too early to really confirm this but both he and kapler sure are making it easy to pile on. It is up to the players to change the narrative.

a couple of early season comments
RasputinPrime : 4/10/2018 10:08 pm : link
Stanton and Sanchez are pressing and will hit their way out - hopefully soon.

Didi is "more patient" at the plate. Either this or he isn't getting as many good pitches to hit.

Austin and Romine are both hungry to stay and playing better than expected. Neither is a major contributor on a winning team however.

Andujar needs work on offspeed pitches and we need Drury to get back in the lineup. I think a few months and he hits his way back.

Walker fits the solid but not spectacular mold. I'm hoping Torres continues to hit like he wants to force Walker to battle with Toe for the supersub role.

Robinson is not the long-term replacement for Ellsbury.
That was rather embarrassing.
shockeyisthebest8056 : 4/10/2018 10:27 pm : link
Sevy just never had the slider and couldn't get a call on his fastballs. I tend to agree that Kahnle shouldn't have pitched there and who's surprised when Shreve stinks? I'm certainly not.

I would consider flipping Judge and Stanton in the lineup since Judge appears to have picked it up. I'm not worried about Gary, but it may be time to move him down a spot to 6 until he picks it up. The problem there is it's not like Neil Walker or anyone else is worth a damn at the moment either.
Promising sign to see Stanton finish with a couple hits

ugly. Seve had no command of his slider. Still was game though
Victor in CT : 4/11/2018 7:50 am : link
at least he gave them 5 when he didn't have his best stuff. Pen was awful. Sanchez looks lost.

Positives: Judge 3 for 3 with a bomb HR. Stanton 2 hits with a double.
Sale wasn’t at his best last night either
mfsd : 4/11/2018 7:59 am : link
Didn’t really have his slider, but adjusted to going fastball/changeup.

Yanks got several hittable pitches and got their share of hits, just couldn’t string them together. And Sale doesn’t make it worse by walking people like Sevy and then Kahnle did last night.

Oh well, hammer Price today and we all feel better
I should say, Sale didn’t have control of his slider

exactly. It's only April 11, and they are 5-6 not 1-10. They can still win this series.

April or not, falling seven games behind a good team in the loss column isn't exactly a recipe for success.
