NFT: The Caribbean Marlins....

Bill L : 4/11/2018 10:35 am
Has anyone been following the Marlins story? They're trying to get a court case moved from state to federal court by claiming that they are a Caribbean entity. It's really about Jeffrey Loria and not Jeter as the headline claims, but, attention-grabbing aside, it sounds sleazy to me. Especially considering that it was the Miami taxpayers who paid for their house.

Loria once again showing the world

what a world class POS he is. He convinced local officials to invest hundreds of millions of taxpayer money into a new stadium with promises of fielding a championship roster. Shortly after he sold the team in which the sale price was over a billion dollars more than he payed for it, Loria claimed he LOST 140 million on the sale in order to stiff the city on the money that he owes to them.

Florida Marlins -> Marlins Teamco -> Marlins Funding -> Marlins Holdings LLC -> Abernue Ltd (which is the Caribbean entity)
Loria is a crook, but that local government deserves to be shamed

Is that part of the agreement to build them the stadium included changing their team name from “Florida” to “Miami” Marlins

I still amazes me that they actually agreed to that deal. Did they really expect Loria to stick to the agreement.
