Interesting ...

Based on that scale, no one in this year's draft is seen better than a "Pro Bowl-caliber player". I don't know if they have changed their scale in recent years, but I can remember a few years back when a number of players (like Luke Joeckel) were rated in the low to mid 90s and few have ever even achieve all-pro status.
Well, based on that, Barkley is not a once in a lifetime player
Stan in LA : 4/11/2018 12:02 pm : link
Or even a Perennial All-Pro.

Hummm.

That scale is ridiculous
ZogZerg : 4/11/2018 12:10 pm : link
It badly needs to be redefined.

Why?
No one wants to take risks
RAIN : 4/11/2018 12:58 pm : link
that is why they don't rate people higher. It saves you a career in the media.
It would be interesting
Jarvis : 4/11/2018 1:14 pm : link
to see the compiled rankings over the past 5-10 years. I agree the scale seems off. It's like they are scared to predict someone will be great.
Just to compare Lance Zierlein analysis to our own
Kevin in Annapolis : 4/11/2018 1:24 pm : link
Sy.

Zierlein has the following players (5) rated as PRO BOWL-CALIBER PLAYER

-Barkley -7.45 (Sy has him as 90+ Elite, All Pro, Franchise players)

-Nelson - 7.34 (Sy has him as 85+ Pro Bowlers, long time starters, among the best at their position eventually)

- Chubb - 7.25 (Sy has him as 85+ Pro Bowlers, long time starters, among the best at their position eventually)

- Edmunds - 7.17 (Sy's rankings for LBs are out tomorrow)

- Darnold - 7.00 (Sy's rankings for QBs are out 4/24)

Sy has the following (3) as 85+ Pro Bowlers, long time starters, among the best at their position eventually

Vea - (Zierlein has him at 6.5 - Chance to become a Pro-bowl Caliber Player)

Payne - (Zierlein has him at 6.51 - Chance to become a Pro-bowl Caliber Player)

Braden Smith - (Zierlein has him at 5.68 - Chance to become NFL Starter)

Zierlein has a huge gap between the top QBs

Darnold - 7.00

Rosen - 6.19
Mayfield - 6.03

Jackson - 5.91
Allen - 5.90
Rudolph - 5.66
This is how the quarterbacks compare to prior years

It looks like they changed their grading system in 2014.
Pretty much what everyone has been saying
OBJRoyal : 4/11/2018 2:24 pm : link
Barkley is the top rated player in the draft, with Darnold the top QB.

Almost couldn’t find Rosen....
