Let's get a consensus here on who you would want to be the Giants future franchise QB. Use the link below to respond to the poll and discuss here. Even those of you who don't want a QB at #2, if you had to choose from the current group (without trading down or drafting Barkley/Chubb), who would it be?
Personally I think Josh Rosen is the best QB in the draft but the injuries are very concerning to me. If you can't play a full season in college it's going to be even more difficult in the NFL. Also, after a decade of Eli (which has been awesome), I'd be interested in a guy with a bit more mobility and guys who can extend plays with their legs. That's why if I had my choice I'd lean towards Sam Darnold.
What say you BBI?
Strawpoll - (
New Window )
I'm going to trust Dave Gettleman to make the right
decision for us whether it's a q.b. or not.
Said it back in December and I'm saying it now. My top QB is Baker Mayfield and there's no way in hell I can justify spending the second overall pick on a 6' QB coming out of a spread offense.
He's my #2 QB, but I wouldn't take him at #2
B/c the point is who would you take if you knew they were taking a QB. And they're definitely not taking one at #2 outside of those 5 so no pt adding other to the poll.
he has shown he really doesnt understand the process or care to learn/try
he has horrible accuracy.
has running tendency and will be prone to injury
horrible wonderlic score
HARD PASS
They've met with him 5 times. I think they have serious interest...but i also don't feel he will be the pick.
Above several choices such ad Allen or even Jackson possibly (coin toss).
With that said- I'm most concerned with Allen. Abd I feel the giants need the QB.
2. The Pillsbury throwboy
3. Shane Falco
If the Giants don't want a QB, they need to get a trade down to #5 to guarantee themselves either Chubb or Barkley.

Basically how I feel about the QB's. I really wish there wasn't so much risk with Rosen. Mayfield for sure passes the eye test and that's what does it for me. What intrigues me the most, even though in a spread offense, he looks comfortable and in control when he drops back to throw. He seems to get a good read on the D and how the routes will play out. Multiple times I saw him look off a defender and then whip his head over to his primary receiver and deliver accurately with a quick release. Watching him play, it looks like he has control of the offense and has a decent knowledge of what the D is doing on a play by play basis. I think those are some solid attributes to look for. My big red flag with him other than maturity, is when he gets pressure in his face, he struggles mightily (maybe because of his height?). Saying that, not many QB's do well under pressure.
Darnold passes the eye test in some ways, but man, the consistent bad reads and throws into coverage bother me. His mechanics are not perfect either, so some work to do on that front. Darnold carries more upside, but seems to be a bit of a project and will have to sit and learn, which is fine (esp under Eli). Allen to me way way over-hyped because of his arm strength and athleticism.
