Have to admit, I'm a complete fanboy for this show. One of the few shows I think benefits from watching weekly, allowing things to marinate, reading reviews and what other viewers are thinking, and re-watching (Westworld is another). It can be jarring and unsettling, but also triply and just really fun to watch with a lot of the visuals, and packed with subtle nods to the dialogue. Take Lenny's conversation with Farouk in the field. Just prior Farouk tells David they are gods, and describes himself as "the sun...the moon". When Lenny is asking for another body she keeps shifting from his left to right but due to the camera panning, Farouk continuously eclipses the sun in the background.
I also love the addition of these little "educational vignettes" narrated by Jon Hamm in the nature of delusion and insanity. Really interested to see where they're going with these season and David's uneasy partnership with Farouk. Noah Hawley has said last season explored insanity in the mind of an individual while this season will look at group or societal madness. Sounds interesting, especially with David and Farouk's conversation about effectively altering reality by manipulating people's minds.
Just wondering if anyone else is enjoying this as much as I am...
And its use of music is usually outstanding.
Don't know much about the series so I'm a bit surprised to see the name 'Farouk' mentioned above as in the comics I know he was technically the first mutant that Charles Xavier met (the same time he met Storm as a child in Cairo) and is the person most responsible for Xavier starting the X-Men. I'm going to now have to watch this show a lot sooner than later....
