With Friday being the service time cutoff for this year, I have to think Torres will be up very soon for either Wade or Andujar. Those guys are a combined 6-60. SSS and all, but including last year Wade is now .141/.215/.212 in 85 MLB ABs.
Hicks might start tonight.
Clint Frazier should make his Scranton debut in the next few days. Be nice to get him back in the mix.
I do worry about Andujar's pitch selection. He's always been a bit of a hacker with low walk rates, though he doesn't strike out all that much either. But he's looked jumpy at the plate in the early going. I still believe in his talent, but I wouldn't mind see him go back down to AAA and have Torres replace him. Going back down with some directions and a better idea of what adjustments to make could be good for him.
Fun basebrawl last night.
He's an absolute stud. He was out almost a full year, so the ST results should be taken with a grain of salt. He needed to get back up and running.
He will be a perfect, and I mean perfect fit for this lineup. Even if he bats at the bottom of the order, his contact skills and ability to spray over the entire field will balance out the power and strikeouts. Also, is patient which will add another OBP bat to the lineup.
This team also needs a little spark. Maybe last night's brawl is it, we'll see. Wade isn't cutting it and Andujar looks like he still needs some seasoning.
i am more concerned with getting some of these guys healthy, Drury, McKinney and the china doll himself, Greg Bird.
Really just need 1 of these guys (between torres and the injuries) to relieve some pressure in the infield. From there they can start to pick their spots a bit more with Wade and Andujar to get them more comfortable and start progressing again.
Oh I know Greg its just crazy how we were worried about getting guys enough reps in the OF and less than 2 weeks into the season and even the AAA depth (McKinney) are on the DL.
Just FYI, the OP answered the service time question in his first sentence
I've never been overly enthusiastic on Wade. I think he's a utility guy at best. And his bat has been weaker than I thought.
I like Andujar, and he stung one last night, unfortunately became a DP. He's got a live bat. He may still come around, and they need him here now. He has a chance to "Wally Pipp" Drury. Speaking of whom, the lack of findings in his testing is a bit disturbing. I wonder what it could be? I also wish he (and Bird) would have said something when their respective issues first occured.
Need a big game from Gray tonight. It would be a nice fuck you to the Bosawx to come back and win this series after the shellacking they took in the opener.
And quite frankly neither does Andujar. I think Andujar's defense has been better than advertised, also.
Wade's defense is worth keeping on the team. How about they give him a couple months. Half the team isn't hitting, so he is not the only one.
Yeah I saw him hit in AAA, he just rips doubles all day. I think he will be fine also, as well as Andujar.
Hey, it's the second week of April and the Yanks are 1.5 games out of the wild card! With only five months to go, they'll have to pick up .3 of a game per month on the rest of the pack just to make the playoffs! Has that ever been done in the history of baseball?
:-)
Kinda like the Jints WRs last season.
#Yankees lineup at #RedSox: Gardner cf, Judge rf, Stanton lf, Gregorius ss, Sanchez c, Hicks dh, Walker 1b, Wade 2b, Torreyes 3b, Gray p
