Scott Wright of NFLDraftCountDown.com updated Mock Draft

Knee of Theismann : 4/12/2018 2:48 pm
I've been following this site since the 2004 draft when he accurately predicted 14 of the top 15 picks (wow) including the Rivers for Eli trade. His mock drafts are always pretty good and I always enjoy his write-ups about each team as well.

He has the Giants taking Chubb at #2 and then Will Hernandez at #34. As much as I want a shiny new RB I have to say that wouldn't be bad at all: consistent with DG's commitment to build in the trenches, you're getting two guys who I think are about as close to "sure things" as you'll see. I think both will be 10+ year starters in this league and both could possibly be pro-bowlers.

view is that if the Giants don't take a QB, they should trade down. The #2 pick is always valuable, but especially this year because someone would be trading up for a QB in what is thought to be an extremely strong class at that position.
if Darnold goes one

I firmly believe Barkley/Chubb will be the pick at #2...my only issue with that is I would rather trade down to a desperate team looking for Rosen/Allen above the Jets.

Even if its the Bills and we can get a trove of picks. We need more than one good player if its not going to be a QB...so why not add multiple top 100 picks to rebuild this team all over the place?
Chubb
Giant John : 4/12/2018 3:13 pm : link
Does not belong in top 5. Throw the remote (once again).
Seems unlikely Hernandez will be there in the second round...
the mike : 4/12/2018 3:18 pm : link
But if he is, this would be a fine start to the draft. I do think Giants will get a number of very good trade opportunities when they are on the clock... so might be able to still get Chubb several positions later as well as getting several additional early picks....
He compared Chubb to Chris Long.

No thanks.
no thanks

I agree w/ Giant John
Any other year, Chubb would be great pick,
SHO'NUFF : 4/12/2018 3:26 pm : link
but it better be Barkley or Darnold, in that order.
Like the Hernandez pick in round 2
Rjanyg : 4/12/2018 3:33 pm : link
If we don't land Nelson in round 1 this is who I want at 34.
@2 would be poor mgt
George from PA : 4/12/2018 3:35 pm : link
@5 makes more sense.....with a couple of extra picks
Browns fans just got excited..
ATL_Giants : 4/12/2018 3:40 pm : link
Darnold and Barkley...
They might start to feel some hope.

Unless Cleveland does pick Allen ( personally don't think so) it will be a choice among, Chubb, Nelson and Barkley, as he points out. That is probably the most likely scenario.

I doubt a trade will happen -- especially since he has Rosen a Bill with pick #12, LOL.

Scott Wright paid a lot more attention in 2004

I'm sure he'd admit it himself. His website has become a hobby for him.

+1
Ridiculous

Chubb is not that good and does not fit into a 3/4 defense . Rather a difference maker like Barkley or Nelson they will do that.

He is that good but he’s not the right pick. Definite remote thrower like previously stated

Amen to this. Although I will be very disappointed if they do not go QB in the first round, it would be a joke to pass on the QB and not pick up more draft choices. The gap between Barkley and Chubb and the next best player at their position is not so great from all the rankings I have seen to justify passing on possibly getting several picks in the first two rounds.

He's a good player but not worth the #2 pick in the draft IMO. I want a great player there and to me Chubb isn't that.
I would absolutely love it if this happened

But no way is Hernandez lasting until 34
It would burt

To see Browns get Darnold and Barkley
Would you really be upset with Chubb?
Jim in Forest Hills : 4/12/2018 10:37 pm : link
Kids a really good player, Giants cannot get pressure on the QB, try to remember how frustrating that feels like watching the game.

Patriots couldnt pressure Foles, while the Eagles got to Brady, huge part of that game.
I like that draft, if it's not Nelson than Chubb would be a great

addition!
