Nate Solder - Player's Tribune

hocuspocus : 4/12/2018 8:55 pm
Nate Solder wrote an article for the Player's Tribune about his son's cancer, what the Patriots did to help his family, and why he chose to sign with the Giants.
Player's Tribune - ( New Window )
Easiest guy in the world to root for.

We're never gonna be disappointed to have him.

Posters like DaddyM who needlessly trashed him because he's "overpaid" are just lost souls.
Very powerful read...great to have him as a Giant...

It was a great read - offering insight into the man and not just a player. He'll be easy to root for.

Amazing that he was willing to move on from NE given his son's

predicament. I wish them well. Cancer is the worst, but for a little child I can't think of much that is more unfair.
New York still does yield some advantages for attracting FAs,

it looks like. (Good hospitals.) Kids getting cancer is the fucking worst. Will be rooting for Nate and Hudson.
Love this!

Thanks for sharing. Another great guy on the field and in the locker room...
Excellent link...

I knew a bit about this story and was surprised he left NE because there seemed to be a good infrastructure in place for Solder's son's treatment.

And f-ck cancer. And f-ck it even more when it attacks the most innocent - children.

This is why I like the Player's Tribune. It's a great platform to hear directly from a player versus the lens of the media. It's nice to have a good soul on the team like Solder...

I hope he and his family beat this vicious disease.

That was a tough but worthy read. Kudos to Nate and the Patriots family for doing it the right way. Rivalry means nothing, family is everything, well done New England.
Great

It is nearly impossible for me to read stuff like this without wanting to cry.

If only we could live in a world where nothing bad could ever happen to babies and children.

And as a father of a toddler, I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up a bit.

great read, sometimes fans (me included) have a tendency of forgetting these athletes are human beings and not just here for our entertainment.

puts things in perspective.
