After the field clears, the Padres start getting into it with Braves fans sitting behind the Padre dugout who are throwing stuff at them, with Kurt Bevacqua jumping on the dugout roof to get at the fans.

Yea that one was great. Another donnybrook was the Yanks-O's in '98. unlike most basebrawls this one took a long time to heat up. For awhile they just danced and talked then all hell broke loose. half the Yankee team chased Armando Benitez into the O's dugout and Darrel Strawberry caught him with some round houses. Since I mentioned Champ Summers in the earlier post, he actually had a really interesting story - he didn't sign a professional contract until he was 25 years old. He played college baseball, then served in Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. After he got out of the army, he was just working an ordinary job when a scout happened to see him play in a softball league and was impressed. He signed Summers to a contract despite his age, and three years later he was a 28 year old rookie. Played ten years in MLB as a reserve outfielder and pinch hitter.

Agreed the first rule of sports brawls is you worry about your own teammates when it comes to holding someone back. You don't tackle a guy on the other team from behind.
Isn't the catcher supposed to run out in front of the batter first to try to keep as much separation as possible, slow down the batter, then try to keep them separated with an wavelength bridge between the 2 before the umps come in to try to cool the matter. CV was timid about getting involved until Austin got close, then all he could do was try to grab the Jersey until forced to get himself between the players to protect Kelly.
Anyway, is Austin appealing? JK deserves the 6(&+) but Austin should get the 5 reduced to 4 or 3.
The series in NY should be friendly, heh?
