Did Austin drop his appeal ?
Ron from Ninerland : 4/13/2018 7:43 pm : link
If not, why isn't he in there ? I can understand sitting him the last game in Boston but here ? Is this yet another bonehead move by Boone ?
No, his appeal is on

How is Walker over Austin a "bonehead" move? Austin is not Greg Bird as a prospect nor is he producing at an untouchable level. Who cares?! Not giving u shit, but its a relatively minor thing to be upset about.

Unless Im missing sarcasm....

I'm actually also upset that Austin is sitting
DennyInDenville : 4/13/2018 8:27 pm : link
Unpopular opinion but it's true..

His OpS this year is over .850, he is better then Walker at the dish
Chop
bigbluehoya : 4/13/2018 8:28 pm : link
I think he was saying it might be a bonehead move to delay the suspension rather than getting it out of the way with Detroit/Miami.
Nevermind

I can see riding the hot hand,
Mad Mike : 4/13/2018 8:32 pm : link
but Walker's awful start notwithstanding, he's probably a good choice against a righty.

Anyway, nice to see us string a bunch of hits together to bring in runs.

I'm upset because there doesn't seem to be a day that goes by that Boone doesn't pull some bonehead move. Usually its mishandling pitchers but lately its been questionable lineup moves. Walker is batting .200 with no power. Austin may not be Babe Ruth but he's doing considerably better than that. Not only that, but Walker is out of position. In Boston why was Torreyes sitting against two left handers ?

I'll admit that Boone's bungling so far hasn't cost as games with the possible exception of the Smoak grandslam game. Up until now the games have been so one sided that I can't put it on anything that Boone did or didn't do. But its only a matter of time before he burns out one of these pitchers or we start losing close ones because the right guys weren't on the field
Love seeing Monty work at this pace.
Ace718 : 4/13/2018 8:47 pm : link
No walking around the mound, no shaking off the catcher, no deliberation, and not putting the defense behind him to sleep. Get the ball and throw the pitch.

PS
Screw Sonny Gray.
6-1 Yankees.

Montgomery looking good.

Hicks looking good at the plate.
Ace718 : 4/13/2018 8:50 pm : link
He's miles better than Peterson and Robinson. Just need Bird back health and Torres called up soon. Lineup will be well rounded.
Aaron Hicks has 2 HRs tonight.
Dave in Hoboken : 4/13/2018 8:53 pm : link
Glad he's back to say the least. Just hope he can stay healthy the remainder of the very young season.
I think Gardy might be playing hurt

I'm upset that not a day goes by where somebody doesn't slam Boone, even over minor, innocuous shit.

Ive watched Gardy play as much as you have. Hes always edgy/feisty, he just looks more tired and crotchety to me right now. Could be the cold, thats fair. Just doesnt seem to be moving as comfortably to me.

Hope I am wrong.

to watch give leads away. He needs to get his shit together.
Goodness Betances ...
DennyInDenville : 4/13/2018 10:17 pm : link
If only we traded him instead of Andrew Miller

i blame the pitching coach
RasputinPrime : 4/13/2018 10:18 pm : link
and his team. You can't have Betances struggling this badly for this long.
Bums me out. Dellins been so good in the past
mfsd : 4/13/2018 10:19 pm : link
but he really looks shot right now. Boone was about 4 batters late with the hook

what the heck is Boone thinking? Build up his confidence? Please you can't make gold out of crap. He is cooked. C'est la vie

section125 : 4/13/2018 10:25 pm : link
The breaking balls look good. Need develop a two seamer?

Also, a couple of those hits were flinging the bat at the ball - lots of luck.
Betances has been struggling for awhile now,
Dave in Hoboken : 4/13/2018 10:28 pm : link
dating back to last season. Plenty of sample size.
The only luck was that Betances didn't hit or walk anybody
xman : 4/13/2018 10:30 pm : link
now our new robot manager Boone will bring in Chapman who just might crap the bed. I guess I can't fault him for going to Chapman but Green is a better bet tonight. Chapman's the closer so lets hope the cold weather doesn't hurt him. But his last outing was anything but brilliant
Tigers may have a fair gripe about that one
mfsd : 4/13/2018 10:33 pm : link
But whatever, our pitchers get squeezed plenty too
As bad as Betances looked,
section125 : 4/13/2018 10:40 pm : link

The Yankees are the first team in Major League history to have five different players record a multi-HR game in the first 14 games of a season (Stanton, Austin, Gregorius, Snchez, Hicks).

Who would have thought they could do that and one of them wouldnt be Judge?
