NFT: 12/4/01 - NYK @ MILW - Knicks win 85-71

Sean : 4/14/2018 8:23 am
Iíve been thinking about this game over the last few days. NYK started slow during the 2001/02 season. The Knicks came off a season in which they failed to get out of the first round, losing to the Raptors in 5 games. It started to feel like the run was ending, but this win felt good. The Knicks got over .500, getting to 10-9 & the defense played really well. Milwaukee was not an easy place to play during this time, the Bucks had talent and were well coached. It felt like this Knick team was making a turn and ready to go on a bit of a run.

I still remember being pretty pumped up about this win.

A few days later, JVG abruptly resigns & it has never been the same.

Don Chaney
Lenny Wilkens
Larry Brown
Isiah Thomas
Mike DíAntoni
Mike Woodson
Derek Fisher
Jeff Hornacek

I still think back to that Bucks game, amazing to think I was optimistic following that win.

Also, I still contend Donnie Walsh has been the only grown up that has overseen this mess in the last 15 years. Did he have misses? Of course. But, he had a plan.

One thing Iím confident over, whoever the Knicks hire - the majority of this board will probably want him fired at some point over the next 2 years.
Donnie walsh's plan was dog shit

Have a duo that are adults. Perry and Mills seem to be able to work together (no small feat for this organization), they seem to compliment each other. I'm interested to see what they do with roster construction this year. I believe they've turned a corner and the arrow is pointing up. It will take a number of seasons to get there, but I see the young athletic types they've brought in, they are looking at coaches like Wright and Fisdale, guys who should be able to relate to and develop young players. That's what they SHOULD be doing (also no small feat for this organization)

Still so far and away better than anyone else weíve had here. He fucked up using the cap space on Amare & Dolan forced his hand on Melo. He missed on Jordan Hill. But how anyone can look at the last 17 years and say Donnie Walsh was a major problem is baffling to me.

Iíd prefer Mills to be ousted but I guess that will never happen. He seems to get a lifetime pass.
No his entire plan was flawed from the beginning
nygiants16 : 4/14/2018 8:59 am : link
His entire plan was based on getting lebron, he hired dantoni thinking he was getting lebron, he traded Randolph and Crawford for 50 cents on the dollar based on lebron...he traded 1st round picks based on lebron...

He tried to be competitive while tearing it down when in reality he should of ranked 2 years and drafted young cheap talent...

There was zero chance lebron was coming to an empty roster...

His plan was awful and the ok only reason it looked semi good is because he followed isiah...
He wasn't going to be allowed to tank just like every other GM

in that job hasn't been allowed to tank.
