I predict Harvey gets ripped
CMicks3110 : 4/14/2018 6:06 pm : link
to shreds....sorry, that's my gut.
I have zero faith in him
CMicks3110 : 4/14/2018 6:07 pm : link
hopefully i'm wrong.
Im kind of worried about him too
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 6:19 pm : link
To be honest, but hey... if he pitches a good game tonight the rotation will basically be solidified going forward. I'm rooting for him.
Also if we win tonight
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 6:20 pm : link
we might keep winning through the Nats series. I see Thor taking the finale tomorrow and I like how we match up with the Nats with deGrom, Wheeler, and Matz going. One game at a time though!

if wheeler outpitches harvey. What do you think happens?

I think if Wheeler keeps pitching lights out and Harvey continues to be up and down they will send Vargas to the bullpen. A mediocre Harvey as the 5th SP still likely has more upside than Vargas as the year goes on but we'll see.
Not a Mets fan...
SFGFNCGiantsFan : 4/14/2018 7:02 pm : link
But what a season thus far for you guys. I hope they stay healthy and win the division. I've never liked the Nats. So far, this season resembles '86 with the Mets, BoSox,'Stros, and Angels all beasting. Hopefully for y'all it has the same ending.

These streaks are so damn important
Rob in Rockaway : 4/14/2018 7:06 pm : link
when we won the 11 in a row early in 2015 it just propelled us forward the whole year.
Ok Matt
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 7:13 pm : link
95 mph. I like seeing that.
Happy Harvey Day shirt on.

That’s key. I’d love to see Harvey become the old Harvey. It’s easy to forget how good he was. He and Jose Fernandez were the best two righties n baaball
Anderson has some nasty
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 7:24 pm : link
offspeed stuff.
Of course the weather drops 20 degrees
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 7:32 pm : link
In the last couple of hours and Harvey has to deal with shitty conditions again.
Matt throwing 91-93 in the secnd
Vanzetti : 4/14/2018 7:33 pm : link
Seems like the shoulder
JFC
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 7:36 pm : link
That looked like a foul ball. Wind blew it back in. lol.

Oh well not a good start.
Matt needs to go to the pen when Vargas is ready
Vanzetti : 4/14/2018 7:39 pm : link
He just can’t sustain velocity. Sad.
Another shitty ump
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 7:42 pm : link
With a tight strikezone. Ugh.
Wow he looked
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 8:02 pm : link
out on the replay.
Like I said

bunt.
Hard to watch
Rob in Rockaway : 4/14/2018 8:14 pm : link
this guy was special and now he is just shot. Baseball is littered with guys like this though.
He must be bitter
Canton : 4/14/2018 8:17 pm : link
that he'll never get that colossal pay day before injury.
Yeah, he is done
Vanzetti : 4/14/2018 8:18 pm : link
I wonder how many more starts Mets give him

Im guessing April. Then Vargas possibly replaces him. Sad.

Especially since the injury came after he threw 210 innings coming off TJ. Gotta think that played a role
Another catcher
Rflairr : 4/14/2018 8:35 pm : link
that can't throw for shit
From what I understand TJ and thoracic
bhill410 : 4/14/2018 8:46 pm : link
Are not related.

They are different injuries but its still the same arm. He threw more innings then recommended and immediately came into the following season with a loss of sensation in his arm in spring training.

They probably are related.
I mean one is related to an elbow and the other is vascular
bhill410 : 4/14/2018 9:05 pm : link
Having tangentially talked to a couple of my ortho surgeon buddies about it they did not think there was much likelihood it was related

Again. I am not saying they are directly related. But if you push and tax your arm long enough past the recommended amount and immediately show up the following season with numbness in your arm it likely had something to do with his pitching. I doubt it happened in the offseason playing blackjack.

Obviously, we'll never know for sure.

Harvey was a prick about his “payday” before he even graduated high school. I’m sure you are dead on with this statement. It sucks that it turned out this way for Harvey but it’s hard to feel bad for the guy.
Oh, and the offense can start clicking any day now.
PhiPsi125 : 4/14/2018 9:15 pm : link
Can live very long on only clutch hits.

Anderson just got the hook lol, I feel this Brewers bullpen can get worked on
Weird that Anderson is coming out of the game.
PhiPsi125 : 4/14/2018 9:24 pm : link
Fortunately for him, the temperature went up 20 degrees every time he took the mound so he didn’t have to deal with the same shitty conditions as Harvey did.
We've all said Harvey looked like crap tonight
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 9:28 pm : link
Nobody is making excuses for him.
Anderson is the ace of the Brewers and
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 9:29 pm : link
one of the best pitchers in the NL. This game looked lopsided on the calendar all week IMO.
Sewald is retiring these Milwaukee hitters
Chris684 : 4/14/2018 9:34 pm : link
fast and furious
What a depressing sight
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/14/2018 9:35 pm : link
when you look at Sewald pitch vs what Harvey was throwing.
Didnt realize
Rory : 4/14/2018 9:35 pm : link
Sewald was another mult inning guy. Great debut, guy deserves a win

I’m just joking around but when you say at the beginning of the game that he has to deal with shitty conditions...you are making an excuse.

Harvey isn’t a good pitcher, unfortunately. Lord knows I’d love him to be one. But the occasional quality start won’t make him a good pitcher. Hopefully Mickey can see this and keeps his leash short.
Harvey s future lies in the pen
spike : 4/14/2018 9:42 pm : link
One inning at a time.
Is Anderson really one of the best pitchers in the league?
PhiPsi125 : 4/14/2018 9:42 pm : link
I mean, he had a nice year last season but the three years prior to that were thoroughly mediocre. Does one good season (out of four) make you one of the best pitchers in the league?
Im definitely going off his most recent year
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 9:47 pm : link
But he's only 30 and if you are throwing 150 pitches that's a big enough sample to be the most relevant. Pitchers learn new pitches, change things, so Im not sure what he did years ago is particularly relevant.

His biggest issue is not being able to deep into a season. He's been stuck at around 150 innings which isnt good.
Does Mickey putting in Robles
Gmanfandan : 4/14/2018 9:49 pm : link
Signal that he's a superstitious manager? (aren't they all) Hansel with two reliever wins already, guns coming up and a "Ya gotta believe" attitude?

They pull this one out...
I really just dont like this cold weather in general.
ZGiants98 : 4/14/2018 9:50 pm : link
It sucks. I think it affects the pitchers and hitters.
