I can't remember the Giants ever in a situation with so many possibilities. And yes, there have been draft threads ad nauseum.
So here is a thread to collect our desirable plausible scenario that involves a draft day trade.
Here is mine (plausible but unlikely):
1. Giants trade back with Denver. Elway has repeatedly said that he would trade back if his OB is not there at 5. It is believed that it is Rosen. So what happens if Cleveland picks Darnold. A trade with the Giants (since Jets supposedly also like Rosen) is attractive.
Denver picks Rosen
Jets pick Allen or Barkley
Cleveland picks Barkley or Chubb
2. Giants pick (surprise) Mayfield/Allen. There are whispers that both have advocates within the org.
3. When the Bills pick at 12, someone on the Giants First Row is available cause he slid (e.g. Fitzpatrick) or because he is a fast riser but not quite (thankfully) fast enough (e.g. Oliver). The giants trade with the Bills.
In this scenario we get Mayfield/Allen and extra picks or a First Row guy with a whackload of picks.
A lot of things have to happen but I would love my trade with Bills in this circumstance scenario.
IMHO it's not too cute at all.
I suspect that 5 the Giants take Chubb (most likely unless Cleveland trades out of 4). But if the QB left is on their first row they might take him, especially knowing he will be a hot commodity (Bills, Miami etc). Worst case neither make a blow out of the water offer when their pick comes and we stay with a QB in our first row.
I doubt Barkley drops past 4th overall. Therefore, my "most exciting (but plausible) draft trade scenario" is:
Giants tell the Jets they are about to pull the trigger on a trade for the 2nd overall with their division rivals, the Bills. The Jets, fearing "their guy" will be gone by the time they pick at 3rd overall, panic (as Chicago did last year).
The Giants trade the 2nd overall to the Jets for the 3rd overall in 2018 plus Jets 4th round 2018 pick (107 overall, 80 pts) and the Jets 1st round pick in 2019 (~580 overall). Or the Jets 3rd round in 2018 (72nd overall and 230 pts), the Jets 4th round in 2018 and the Jets 2nd round pick in 2019.
There will always be a "QB they like best" but not a franchise QB.
Obviously I am not in the 'you have to draft a QB cause you have a high pick' faction.
Trade to TB @ 7
Browns realize Giants wouldn't swap if they were going to take a QB. Fearing Giants will take their guy (they're in love with Barkley) they swap with Giants. Giants get the Browns two 2018 2nd rounders. Browns take Barkley.
Fearing someone will trade ahead of them, the Broncos swap with the Giants to ensure they get they're QB. Giants get Broncos 2018 4th and 2019 1st. Broncos take Mayfield.
Realizing the Giants wouldn't be trading down if they were taking QB, the Colts swap with the Giants so they don't lose Chubb. Giants get the Colts 2018 4th and 2019 first.
Giants take Darnold and end up with three 2018 2nd rounders, four 2019 1st rounders and four 2018 4th rounders. They use two of the 2018 2nd rounders to trade up for Fitzpatrick and take Billy Price in the 2nd. They use the four 1st rounders in 2019 to complete the rebuild.
Jets swapping picks guarantees us Barkley, Broncos swap gives us one of Barkley(ideal),Chubb or Nelson.
Browns realize Giants wouldn't swap if they were going to take a QB. Fearing Giants will take their guy (they're in love with Barkley) they swap with Giants. Giants get the Browns two 2018 2nd rounders. Browns take Barkley.

Lololol thats better than that Kevin Costner flick!
Something to look forward to, LOL

Obviously I am not in the 'you have to draft a QB cause you have a high pick' faction.
Cleveland, Buffalo, the Jets and (probably) Denver all think that the top QBs have the potential to be "franchise" guys.
Teams like Miami, Cincy, the Pats and likely a number of others would all kill to get a shot at the top QBs as well.
I'm not buying the "all the QBs have red flags" BS that the "we don't need a QB" crowd has been peddling on BBI.
Does BBI see any red flags in Eli's game over the past couple of years? (Even if these posters are "Eli blind" Eli is still 37.)
Does Webb have any red flags?
There are never any guarantees, but this is the Giants' best shot to get a franchise QB. I hope they don't blow it by picking a non-QB, just so they can win a few more games next year.

the QB they like best or one they have a conviction about as a franchise 15 year QB?

Meant to say "Arizona" not "Cincy".
My guess is 70-30 Darnold goes #1. Roethlisberger was a very similar QB coming out (if not better) and he went 11.

Awesome make it happen Marcky
There's a good chance that we're both going to be disappointed.
You won't get your trade down and extra picks and I won't get a QB.
The Giants will take Darnold (the only QB they will take) at 2 if available or Barkley if Darnold is not available AND the Giants keep their mouths shut until and including while they're on the clock.
2. Denver wants Josh Allen.
3. The Jets want Mayfield.
Cleveland selects Darnold. The Giants select Barkley. The Jets select Mayfield.
Cleveland on the clock at 4 calls the Giants and offers their #4, #33 and next year's first round pick for Barkley. The Giants accept and are on the clock.
Denver panics that the Giants will take Allen at #4 and calls the Giants and offer #5, #40 and next years second round pick for the Giants #4. The Giants accept.
Denver takes Allen at #4.
The Giants take Chubb at #5.
The Giants have picked up # 33 and # 40 in 2018 and a first and second rounder in 2019.
Please disregard the previous post.
That sounds riveting. You should write a TV show.
Giants take Lamar Jackson top of the 2nd
Denver gives up:
#5, #40, #99, #109, 2019 first and Shaq Barrett (received a 2nd rd tender)
for
#2
Trade chart has the Giants ahead by a pretty good margin on that.
At #5 they most likely take Chubb (can never have too many pass rushers) or Barkley if he somehow falls.
But the trading doesn't stop there. At #34/#40 they get 1 DB and 1 OL, and potentially stack pick the same positions with the 3rd rounders, creating the flexibility to trade Apple and/or Flowers for 4th/5th round picks either this year or next. I'd guess at least 1 of them leaves town. In total Gettleman adds 3 or 4 hog mollies in the first 110 picks, while also filling 4 other spots and grabbing an extra first round pick next year.
Giants get 4,33, 64, 101 and 1st rd pick 2019. Frankly I don't think Cleveland is making any deals.
1st Pick Giants take Mayfield.
Rd 2 33rd pick- take -- Smith from Auburn.
Rd 2 34th pick - take another OL- the best of the other more-than-likely 4 linemen that will be available which fits the team long-term best:
Price (C/G)
Ragnow (C/G)
Rankins (G/T)
Crosby (T)
Rd 3a Pick 65 Take BPA between DT Tim Settle, BJ Hill or McIntosh.
Rd 3b Pick 66 Take BPA a RB or a CB
Rd 3c Pick 69 Take BPA a RB or a CB or a S (don't take 2 of the same)
Rd 4a Pick 101 take BPA CB or S or DL (don't take 2 of the same)
Rd 4b Pick 108 take BPA CB or S or DL (only double up on CB or S if you have to)
Rd 5 Pick 139 take BPA LB or CB or S or DL. Don't take 3 of either C or S.
Gettleman will be hailed a genius and the Giants march to Super Bowl LIII will be officially on the clock!
