Interesting that no team has taken even a flier on Bromley

Eric from BBI : Admin : 4/16/2018 7:48 am
Still a fairly young guy who apparently could be signed for a minimum deal. Pretty damning.
No idea

but Hankins is also still out there. Would love to bring him back but does he fit the new scheme?
Agreed, I thought he

was a decent b/u DT.
He's one of those

2nd/3rd tier FAs that will probably signed after the draft for near vet minimum.
At this point, teams are waiting to see how the draft goes

Some holes will be addressed, others will not. And the remaining free agents--of which there are plenty--will find homes based on the holes that were not addressed in the draft.
Chargers beat mentions him as possible target

The Chargers sat out the chase for the top interior lineman available, Ndamukong Suh, who was scooped up by the Rams. This late in the process, the Chargers are shopping for bargains if they're unable to solver their needs in the draft. Former Giants tackle Jay Bromley could be a name to watch.

I was shocked when he was drafted in the 3rd roundsl

I live near Syracuse..... and watched him for 3 years. Was a good
College player .... but the media around here thought he was a late
Round draft pick .. 6th or 7th rounder. And that has proved to be
What his performance and value in the NFL was .... amazing.
Reese loved to take fliers on people.
I'm definitely a Coughlin suporter
Coach Red Beaulieu : 4/16/2018 8:15 am : link
Over Reese, but I'm pretty sure it was Coughlin banging the table for Syracuse and BC players.

Yeah, you can tell by all the guys we are letting go signing with Jax. BTW John Mara is a BC grad. I am pretty sure you are wrong.
Now that Dez has been released

There is some buzz down here in Dallas, that Cowboys MSU have interest in signing Hsnkins.
Hankins

Sorry for the typo
He stinks.
mittenedman : 4/16/2018 8:44 am : link
And, of course, a bevy of NFL OL's picked directly after him in Trai Turner, Gabe Jackson, Brandon Linder, Travis Swanson, Spencer Long and Michael Schofield.

This was in 2014 when our OLine was well past falling apart. But we just had to have Bromley.

Agreed, but I'm still somewhat surprised that he hasn't been signed.
Bromley was a huge

reach by Reese in the third round like many others he made. Hankins was a good pick and should been retained just like Joseph. As GM Reese was responsible for those decisions even though he tried to blame everybody else when they wen bad.

Be realistic - with Snacks on the roster, they could not keep Hankins after what was a good FA year. He got big money from the Colts.
And for those who say
idiotsavant : 4/16/2018 9:27 am : link
That 'Harrison will be strictly a nose / 0 tech' and 'Robert Thomas is his backup'

Thomas was - behind - Bromley on the depth chart in a 4/3, and, this D may not often even use a pure nose type technique right over center of center. Have we seen this particular version yet?

DTs (and TEs as well) are still on the draft menu despite people saying 'we are all set'.

Look around the league..

at several positions and teams are waiting to sign some of the vets hanging out there.

You saw a breakdown during the Eric Reid thread on safeties, but it extends to other positions as well. If you are a marginal player or have high contract demands, teams are going to take a wait and see approach as it really doesn't make a lot of sense to sign players now - unless you look at them as guys who absolutely have to be on the team before they are snapped up by someone else. Bromley isn't that caliber of player.

the 6/7 th round pick he was. and everyone knew he was before the draft ,except Reese. Reese had a lot of those strange reaches and lost his job over them. Glad it is finally over. Lets move on.
I think Bromley
81_Great_Dane : 4/16/2018 5:26 pm : link
is the kind of player you sign after the draft, not before. He's an ok backup. If you don't get an ok backup in the draft, you can sign Bromley. If you do, you have a younger cheaper version of the same player.

I like Bromley's story, love that he grew up a Giants fan and was playing for his favorite team, but he didn't improve enough. Maybe he'll do better elsewhere.
It was calves

And at his size after 4 years in a Div-1 program, if he is that out of shape and lacking musculature, he's well not suited for the NFL.
Joey you are a
