NFL Draft Bites Chad Forbes

Pep22 : 4/17/2018 8:52 am
This guy continues to suggest that the Bills and NYG are angling towards a deal with the possibility that CLE joins the fray.

Is this guy one of those "throw shit on the wall" reporters or does he have a good reputation for reporting things that are ya know...true?
Teams talk
Sean : 4/17/2018 9:00 am : link
NYG likely has talked with CLE to move up to 1, talked with DEN to move down to 5 & BUF to move down to 12.

Regardless, I don’t see anything happening until draft night. It all comes down to what DG/PS feel about the QB’s. How much does NYG like Darnold? Just don’t see any deal being made until CLE or NYG is on the clock.

LC_21 : 4/17/2018 9:14 am : link
of all that nonsense is some kid @bziolkowski49 on Twitter. from 3-4 days ago ...

He said 3-way deal:

Gmen get picks 4 and 22
Bills get 1
Browns get 2 and 12

He then got ripped asking why on Earth the browns would want to go from 1 / 4 to 2 /12 and he then started backpedaling about CLE getting additional assets (no mention of from who) and maybe he had some things noted incorrectly as this was communicated via conversation from his source/his district GM (god only knows where he works) that is friends w and spoke w Russ Brandon

so apparently Forbes source is some knucklehead kid in Buffalo
Without looking at the draft pick value chart...
Chris684 : 4/17/2018 9:18 am : link
Is something like this possible?

Buffalo gets #1 overall pick.

Cleveland gets #2, #12 and #65.

NYG gets #4, #22, #53 and #56.

BUF & NYG make out like bandits, CLE would need more.

Why would Cleveland do this trade?
More likely, Giants get Browns #4, then trade down with Buffalo
Ivan15 : 4/17/2018 9:27 am : link
And that is probably crazy too but it gets DG a bunch of picks that he can use to get a late first round or early second round pick
Yea, it's true...
Chris684 : 4/17/2018 9:27 am : link
Cleveland would need more there.

I do think there is a fit. Buffalo is going to have to get their 2019 1st involved though.
If that 3 team trade happened it
jvm52106 : 4/17/2018 9:28 am : link
would be more like this:

Cleve- 2, 12, 53, 56 and a #1 next year

Gmen- 4, 22, 96

Cleveland gets to take Allen as the #2 (which is less money than #1), gets another 1 next year, gets the 12 this year plus two 2nd rounders this year.

The Giants get the guy they wanted at 2 at number 4 and get another 1st and another 3rd.

I’m only trading down to 4 or 5

That additional 3rd would give us three 3rd round picks and ammunition to move up in round two if we wanted to.

Jesus with the "trade value chart" nonsense.

It's not a thing anymore unless Jimmy Johnson goes back to coaching in a time machine to before rookie salaries were slotted.
Limerick calm down

That's exactly why I was saying "without looking at it".

ive been looking at this
blueblood : 4/17/2018 9:38 am : link
and it kind of makes sense for everyone..

Cleveland moves down one.. Still gets a QB, lower cap hit and gets extra picks..

Giants move down.. still have some of their top targets available.. pick up a One.. and get at least a #2 or #3.. if they get a #3 thats a total of three.. and they can package two of them to move back up into the second round if need be..

Bills get the guy they want... They are assured of getting their QB of choice.

It makes sense.. would it happen.. who the heck knows..

No. Cleveland would need at least #22, and a first round pick in 2019, and probably more.

If you think there's 3 blue chip players then one of them will still be there at 6 as well if 3 QB's go 1,2,3

Indy is at 6 - they have no reason to trade up.

Belichick on the chart (although I'm not sure he's talking about Johnson's chart or some other common chart)

Quote:
“One of the problems with the draft chart, if we all have our own draft charts, which is fine, sometimes it’s hard to make a trade because, ‘Well, my draft chart says this. Well, your draft chart says that,’ whereas if we all use the same chart, we all agree on basic value,” Belichick said. “Then it’s a lot easier to get what we call, I’d say, a fair trade, which I’d say over the last few years the majority of the trades that we’ve studied have been within a few percentage points one way or the other of being the correct value for the trade. In some cases in later rounds, sometimes those get a little bit skewed just because you have fewer picks. So if you don’t have many picks to work with then you can only use the ones that you have, but a lot of times in the earlier round picks, a sixth round choice will get thrown in or given back or something like that to sort of balance out the value of the trade. I’d say, overall, in the last couple of years, as we’ve studied the trade values, they’ve been pretty consistent with what our evaluations show on the trade chart, which I think is what the majority of the teams use. Relative to resetting the draft, the trade chart, I’d say there’s been a little bit of a modification there.”

But there's renewed talk the Colts are looking to trade down again, potentially putting the likes of the Dolphins or Bills in at 6 who might still want to go come up again.

It would make more sense if Giants got 4 and Buffalos #2s
Cleveland gets 2 12 21 and Buffalo 2019 #1
Buffalo gets #1

Good for Giants as they could get Barkley plus picks
I do not see why the Browns would do it unless they KNOW that the Bills want a different QB than they want.

Buffalo was willing to give the Giants
George from PA : 4/17/2018 4:07 pm : link
both 1s, 2, and 3, and 2019 1st.....that is certainly enough to entice Cleveland to move 8 spots and the Giants move 2 spots.
also would like to add @12

Cleveland can address their biggest need which is LT.....McGlinchey.
