Boomer just reported that he passed away.

A true legend in the NY Sports area. His national anthems prior to NY Rangers games were always special.

So many Rangers games with his rendition of the National Anthem. Brings back a lot of good memories.

still being heard over the din. 83 years old. The only other anthem singer who was so symbolic or iconic to me was Roger Doucet in Montreal.

He really was a NY legend. RIP. The 94 Game 7 anthem with the crowd screaming was epic.

Volume up! - ( New Window )
That's a shame.

I remember telecasts of those Canadien teams. After he belted out O'Canada in English and French, it seems that the Habs were already up at least a goal. Then came LaFleur, Shutt, Gainey, everyone. Weren't going to win too many road playoff games at the Forum in those days.
I lived across the hall from his nephew

SO TRUE!! After that last high note of "FOOOOOOOOR THEEEEEEEEE!!!!" They really were the Flying Frenchman. Those were the days when the Saturday night game in Montreal was an event. I miss that era.
He always sung it like it was game 7
