let's see if both sides can find the compromise spot on an extension. The bar's been set ... which leads to wonder where both sides are planted at the moment.
Beckham will be traded by next season. Does not feel Giants will sign him to next contract.
And My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who feels the giants won't trade him and the giants will sign him. I guess it's pretty serious
Who cares what boomer has to say, he has just as much insight as any Joe schmo on this board. He does not like Beckham and would trade him if he had any say
to Tisch I believe and when this story first broke a month ago, he was saying that Tisch wants no part of trading OBJ. They know that he's a once in a lifetime talent and they want him here for a long time. Interesting to see his message change. I hope that it isn't because of OBJ's asking price.
Wanting great players around long term? What about the 5 million WR's that had 10 year primes? Why are we looking at 4 guys and thinking that everyone will follow that mold and not the many others that didn't get hurt? Think san fran is happy Rice stuck around? Think Dallas is happy Irving played for a while? Marvin Harrison? calvin Johnson? Larry Fitzgerald? Andre Reed? Reggie Wayne? Art MOnk? Antonio Brown? Chad Johnson? Julio JOnes? AJ Green?
The list can go on forever. Look at Dallas. If that's the worst case scenario, sign me up. Guy signs a huge deal, then gets hurt and a few years later he's released and removed from the cap. Its the NFL, non guaranteed contractgs.
RE: Does the 2011 CBA limit franchising a player for 2 straight Â
If it’s 2 years, then counting this year would gove us 3 more years with OBJ if we chose to go that route
Players can be franchise-tagged in consecutive seasons, but the financial downside for teams increases each time. Two years in a row, for example, means the player receives 120% of his previous year’s salary, and every subsequent year, that percentage would scale upward and become costlier.
Is OBJ healed and the same payer now, after the injury ? Â
The original guy was worth the contract he is looking for; but who knows if the current guy is ? Dez in Dallas was not. You want the money then make your case. Shit goes both ways. Hope he is the same player, despite the off field warts. What are his measurables now ? He had a serious injury. DG will want to know those things before any contract is offered and he should.
RE: Does the 2011 CBA limit franchising a player for 2 straight Â
if they don't go QB at #2, tag OB in 2019, and then decide it's time to move on from Eli after 2019 as many believe.
No QB, no OB, lots of cap space, maybe an extra 1st rounder and change. Not a great outcome, imv.
I have been reading some stuff on 2019, there are actually people suggesting a QB may NOT go in round 1. I know its way too early - but thats not the praise you are looking for.
All these QBs in this years class at this time last year were deeemed top 5 picks and many of them will be.

Jalen Hurts is somewhere in the middle of that class. 2019 looks grim, and if a guy does distinguish himself, it'll be a guy who doesn't have a track record and the criticism will write itself.
I remember thinking Smith, Nicks, Cruz, and Manningham would/should be here long term. I won't make that mistake again.
For someone that knows the game, you sure make some puzzling statements when the topic is something you have a strong negative opinion on.
Smith - Injury, was never the same
Nicks - Injury, was never the same
Cruz - Injury, was never the same
Manningham - Cap Casualty, then injury, when resigned was never the same
If your point in that he may never be the same player when he comes back after injury, then fine, but we all know that's not your point
to give OBj a new contract, without seeing him play this season under the fifth year option....
But as for franchising him next year, and possibly the next, it's not going to happen.....OBj will draw the line....not sign the tag, and may not show up until mid season just to get his year of eligibility....and then how he plays on the field may be another matter......he will not take chances on getting injured....
like they have a clue. You have no idea what OBJ will and won't do. Plenty of people said he won't show up for voluntary team activities until he gets a new deal. Guess what, he's here.
and they had family come after them for money, it led to so many problems and within 10 years, they were broke. 4 of the 100 people regretted winning the lottery, so I hope I never win the lottery. Sound logic?
and teams / agents were trying to stir shit up to see if the Giants would trade him for pennies on the dollar, he was never going to go anywhere.
Seeing how Beckham has no leverage , a preposterous take of that wibdbag Michael Kay , let’s review the current state of affairs:
Beckham will not play in ‘18 unless he’s extended . OK he doesn’t get paid. But he will have endorsement money plus he can probably borrow 2-3 million from Landry to tide him over.
Then what happens in ‘19? There is no reserve clause in the NFL. It costs the Giants probably 17 million to get him to play in ‘19 & then 20 in ‘20. That’s holding all the cards? This will be a situation like Cousins, who gamed the system with alacrity and mendacity , as Clyde might say.
Abrams was a moron for tooting the Giants’ excellent cap position going forward . Beckham must have enjoyed reading that with his morning coffee. Made a piss-poor situation worse .
as a first and second response, the friction generates fan traffic for him.
Exactly. Even after the OBJ trade talk died down, Boomer has made sure he brings up something negative conceding Odell practically every day.
He's either talking about the 7second video, OBJ's contract, or how the Giants will trade him. He can't go a day without bringing Odell up and it's almost always negative every single day.
It's either that or how the Giants HAVE to take Darnold, and sometimes it's both.
exactly what the Giants cap situation is they will sign him and offer him what they feel he is worth throw some incentives in to help compensate the cap hit . I don't no anything about the finances more importantly how many years
do you sign him for 5-6 years I have no clue .

Boomer has turned into a real jackass, spent too much time with Carton. I was hoping that show would get better without carton but it is basically unlistenable, especially when they think they are being funny-painfully unfunny.
For a guy like Eaison. Are some if you suggesting that he isn t better connected than the average fan.
That s silly.
That's exactly what I'm saying, especially when it comes to the giants. When was the last time boomer had inside information on anything?? He puts on his holier than thou hat and talks out of his ass
struggle every day to be relevent keep their jobs. We shpuld be used to it by now. After playing, many are not good fits in the real world so they scramble. Get a real job or STFU.

his measurable skills after a serious injury? He is looking for a huge contract, but is he worth it now ? Sure DG will check that out. Remember Nicks and Cruz? They never came back but kept get getting paid like they did. OBJ may not be the same OBJ., We have to know if that is case before the next contract. Only a fool would not agree to that, we have been burned before.
Of course, what else is he going to say right now?
Has Boomer ever been right about anything having to do with the Giants?
And My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s brother’s girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who’s going with a girl who feels the giants won't trade him and the giants will sign him. I guess it's pretty serious

As wash did with Cousins, you can franchise them mulitple years in a row, but the value goes up significantly.

Another consideration: Gettleman is 67 years old. Could we be looking at a new GM in 2 or 3 years?

Possibly, but his likely successor (Abrams) is the one that will hammer out the details of any Beckham extension.
This. It’s football things change week to week. I would bet long term he is not here but what the hell do I know.

It'll be Chris Pettit or Abrams, IMO.
