Ourlads post interview - what a frustrating read

V.I.G. : 4/17/2018 5:45 pm
reads like a bitter attention seeker that has seen his scouting world lapped by others. who knows.

I think Josh Allen is like driving a covered wagon on the Autobahn

Quote:
“Darnold, he’s like a cow on ice,’’ Shonka said. “His footwork is all over the place. His feet in the pocket are embarrassing. When you turn the ball over [35 times] in 26 games, you’re intellectually dishonest when you’re talking about bringing in Sam Darnold as your next savior.

Quote:
“Anybody who doesn’t take Mayfield at the top is making a big mistake,’’ he said. “Mayfield is head and shoulders above any quarterback.’’

Quote:
“I like him a lot,’’ he said. “The ball comes out of his hand very explosively. He’s got a different personality, he’s a millennial kid, he wants to know why and Jim Mora at UCLA didn’t like that. I like smart guys and he’s an intelligent guy. The injuries do bother me. Concussions. If he gets dinged early in preseason he may be out for six, seven games. And he’s already had surgery on his right shoulder. But he is very accurate, he does make good decisions and he’s a taller guy

Mayfield, Rosen, rest are shite - ( New Window )
He's not wrong about Darnolds footwork

even I noticed it's all over the place. He's got a pronounced bunny hop at the top of his drop and often throws with both feet off the ground. It's weird, doesn't seem to affect his throws that much though, and being able to throw off base is one the reasons he does so well out of the pocket.
Agree

His ability to deliver those throws with imperfect footwork when the rush is on and it’s crunchtime is exactly what makes him special.
Frustrating

And confusing
Basically bashes the qbs...but has a 1st round grade on all of them.

His poor footwork jumps off the screen when you watch him. Then you read about all the picks and fumbles. So many have said "the pros will coach those turnovers out of him" as if running some drills with two hands on the ball for a few weeks will solve all his problems. You think USC coaches didn't want him to protect the ball better?

Man, if we draft him I'll root for him and hope for the best, but as a player he's way behind Rosen for me
Mayfield

Is throwing the ball to guys with 3-5 five yards defensive space on almost every passing play. What team in the NFL will provide him the offensive personnel and talent he had at Oklahoma?
Rosen and Mayfield

I've also put Mayfield and Rosen in the top 2 of QB's. I'm indifferent with Darnold. And I hope not Allen. Just hope the Giants make the right pick and I hope it's a QB. If it's Darnold - I hope they are right. But if it is Allen I think they're wrong.

If it's not a QB (Rosen, Mayfield or Darnold- though Barkley over Darnold reluctantly okay but frustrated they didn't take Mayfield or Rosen.) it had better be Barkley or trade down. I'll be pissed if it's Chubb, Nelson or anyone else at 2.

I think he saying they're overhyped and the guys not named Mayfield are more worthy of going later 1st rd, not at the top (which isn't going to happen).

He's saying they're pretty good, but this isn't the class of '83.

If 3 or 4 of these guys don't pan out, he will be right. Time will tell.

the Giants??
No to Mayfield
Rudy5757 : 4/18/2018 2:23 pm : link
He looks like hes trying to throw as hard as he can everytime. He has to be in a certain system.

No to Rosen because of his injury history. I dont see him having a long career.

I actually like Allen, sit him behind Eli for a year. Let himand Webb battle for the starting spot next year and see what happens. I think this kid just needs to be coached.

Darnold would be my 2nd choice.

I dont see the Giants winning more than 8 games so I would rather start the rebuild and at least have a plan in place going forward. Not drafting a QB and winning 8 games would be the worst. I think there is a QB to be had, we are in position so we should get one and start a new chapter. this is Elis last year as a Giant.
