My turn to play GM ...

Spider56 : 9:53 pm
Let’s start with the fact that I’m not impressed by any college football played west of the Mississippi, so I’ll not buy into any of the QB hype.

I’d like to trade #2 to Cleveland for their #4 but Dorsey is not interested.

I like Barkley but we can get a back that’s almost as good later ...

In round 1, pick 2 ... I’m going with Chubb .. he can be another Strahan.

In round 2, I’m taking the RB... maybe Michel or even another Chubb
In round 3, the best OL and LB still available

We’ll use day 3 to patch the secondary.

Other activities ... I’ve got a call into the agents for both Hankins and Dez ...

Go ahead ... fire me,
BTW ...

My chief scout is a guy named Dewars.
You might find a trade partner in Denver

Slide down to 5, pick up a couple of 2018 picks, a 2nd and a 3rd and a 2019 first round pick, and get Chubb, Barkley or Nelson. Then you would have 2 - 2nd rounders, 3 - 3rd rounders and 2 1st next year.

I dont think your getting a back almost as good

later.. If you are simply looking at the ability to run a football you can make that argument. But you have to factor in how Barkley would be utilized in Shurmur's offense and being a three down back, how he affects play action and particularly how he affects personnel combinations and the ability to show multiple looks in different formations
(which is an important part of Shurmur's offense). Im not sure if another back in the draft can affect the Giants offense like Barkley could. This is what I say I dont think that should be the premise of your argument.

IMO a better premise would be that based on the value of the contract it makes more sense to draft the premium pass rusher in the draft @ #2 rather than the RB (although I like Barkley). Also in the NFC East it will be extremely important to both stop the run and pressure the QB and Chubb does well at both..

In addition you have to replace what you lost on your DL with JPP. You need another pass rusher to pair with Vernon and Chubb is considered the best in this draft

However I wouldnt argue the choice of Chubb over Barkley.. I think either of them would suffice..

2nd round I think they should be looking at OL.. definitely OL..
I called Elway and asked about this ...

He’s still pissed about losing to Phil Simms etal in 86 .., said something about the 1H safety being a bogus call ... anyway .. he’s willing to roll the dice the guy they want will still be there at 5 ... and I’m not dropping to #12 regardless what Buffalo offers,
I don’t know...I just have a hard time seeing Chubb
Toastt34 : 10:09 pm : link
being the guy at 2. I think he comes into play on a slight trade down. If they hold at 2, I think there are better options available whether it’s QB, Saquon or a trade down. Would prefer all those over Chubb at 2 to be honest.
Cleveland needs to replace his retiring all pro LT

But figures 4 is too early and 33 too late. So they made a call to Buffalo about their desire to move up for QB and they want to get in front of the Jets pick.

So they set up a conference call with Gettleman.

Buffalo moves to 2
Giants move to 4 and get Buffalo's 2nd 1st #22.
Cleveland moves 8 spots to 12 and also gets Buffalo 2 2nd rounders and Buffalo's 2019 1st.

QBs go 1-2-3

Giants on the clock @4...gets slammed by calls for Baker. Swaps picks with Denver for their 2nd and 3rd.

Giants @5 draft Barkley and gets Josh Jackson @22.

Gets ready for day 2 with their (2) 2nd and (3) 3 rd

Elway may have lost all interest in drafting a QB after his experience
Ivan15 : 10:46 pm : link
trying to replace Manning.

If Elway has no interest in trading up and the Browns don’t want to play, the Giants may have to trade out of the top 10.
I like your take George

Barkley and Jackson , I wouldn't mind Nelson or one of the Edge rushers'LB's either .
Having two picks in the 2nd as well he come away with
4 starters Carter Raginow , Thats the best case for us getting 6 picks in the top 102
We can only dream.
You and Dewars need to go back to the drawing board

Best OL available in Round 2 if you didn't find a way to trade back from #2 and land Nelson.
Spider: “I’d like to trade #2 to Cleveland for their #4...”

That would be my MOST desired, if there is a trade
I have seen the "we can get a back just as good (as Barkley) later on"
Bill L : 4/18/2018 8:18 am : link
posted several times lately. No offense, but that's BS. Those "almost as good" backs, to the extent that they do exist, will not be there at 34. At least with respect to a margin of difference over Gallman that would make the pick worth picking. SO you can say Guise or Michel (or whoever), but if you pass on Barkley, you're passing on them too. So, decide if you want a RB or you don't and move on from there. If you don't, then that's okay too. Make your picks to shore up weaknesses in other places.

continue to ignore the most glaring need and opportunity >>>>> find a franchise QB. It is flat out irresponsible not to do so.

Not being ignored at all. It’s on the Giants to determine if any of these “top” QBs are worth it
Not 1 of these QBs are ‘can’t miss’ ...

The very fact that there is no consensus amongst the so called experts means they all carry risks ... At number 2 I want the sure thing ... Chubb, Barkley and Nelson all have pro bowls in their future ...
