I'm hoping the Jackson interview is just a formality. Fizdale has really been growing on me. If you read about this guy he seems to check all the boxes for everything Perry and Mills said they want and he's only 39 as well. Maybe Woodson would come with him as an assistant who knows? I'd be happy with either Stack or Blatt too. Just hope these guys make the right choice...

Woodson interview feels like a favor to Woodson or his agent...
The fact they scheduled jackson and woodson on the same day make them seem like throw away interviews

You're probably right, same deal as with Jackson. I think Mills and Perry are trying hard to let everyone know that things will be different so they're kind of trying to show that by mending relationships with guys that maybe didn't get a chance previously. Well everyone except for JVG who I think Dolan will never forgive lol.
I was referring to the fact that Woodson and Fizdale have worked together in the past with Woodson giving Fizdale his first job back in Atlanta. Could be an interesting combo to add if they decide to go in that direction.
Here's a good article on Fizdale even though it's mostly comments from his boy Spoelstra: Link - ( New Window )
attached article discusses issues at Golden State.
Jackson seems like a difficult guy to get along with. Maybe not with the players, but everyone else - assistants, mgmt., et al. red flags from GS - ( New Window )
I think Woodson is a CAA client. Could indeed be a favor. Â
lets bring in a guy that people don't like or get along with to shake things up.
This isn't an old vet team that the coaches lost. This is a very young team that needs a coach to get behind.
More importantly, the Knicks seem to be going towards the analytical method and Jackson is the exact opposite. He fights analytics which is one of the main reasons he was fired in GS and hasn't sniffed a job since. Terrible fit.
He said "I'm praying for" Collins? Big deal. Revered NBA players have said far worse on the court.
He told the team that injured festus ezeli was rooting against them all because he didn't believe in what jackson believed in...basically made him cry in front of the team to tell them it was not true..
He would put the guys who did believe against the non believers...
I still don't quite get the Fizdale love though. Again, he had one decent year with the Grizz and then got fired for arguing with the team's best player. I just dont know how that screams rising star in the profession.

With fizdale everyone seems to love him, riley, spoelstra, lebron, wade, even coaches around the league ripped the Grizzlies for firing him...
It was a case of the Grizzlies choosing Gasol side over fizdale...

Right but there should never be a situation where a team has to choose between player and coach. Especially if it's a coach that supposedly everyone loves and is a great communicator etc etc
I can’t help having a weird feeling Isaiah will weasel his way Â

Jon I am not arguing that point, it is weird because not much leaked from why it happened
RE: I can’t help having a weird feeling Isaiah will weasel his way Â
Fizdale runs a perimeter offense he does not run his offense through the post maybe Gasol botched about not getting the ball enough?
I'm sure this was the main reason. Gasol won 50+ games for seasons with other head coaches where the offense ran through the post and at the elbow. Now a second year head coach has him running the floor looking for 3 point shots. Gasol and the team didn't buy into it.
However, I think Fizdale is overhyped because of his "Take that for data" rant at the end of Game 1 last year against the Spurs.
interviewing anywhere besides the Knicks? Of course not. He got fired off a 50+ win season, hasn't sniffed a job since, and the only job he's ever linked to is New York, because he's a "New York guy." I really don't think he'll ever coach in the NBA again unless we hire him.
He said "I'm praying for" Collins? Big deal. Revered NBA players have said far worse on the court.
I posted a link or two on other knicks threads about jackson’s antics throughout his nba career, notably his HC stint in GS. If half of the shit said is true he’s never going to coach again and he shouldn’t. The guy is crazier than a shit house rat. Last year I wanted him here too. After reading up on him a bit....No way.
The guy was passed around more than an std. he played for what... 10 teams? The guy could play yet never stayed anywhere for very long. He won at gs yet was fired and hasn’t sniffed a job since. Ask yourself why?
The whole Mark Jackson religion storyline seems to be a bit dramatic.
In any event, the guy is a good basketball coach, with a better record and more success than the other guys they're interested in.
Why is it impossible to believe Jackson may be sorry about his time in GS or changed?
Or is it just cooler these days to cast him off as a "bible thumping lunatic"?
The guy was supposedly all about church, made it a point to have a team bus to go to services with players, and then got busted with a hooker. He's a fraud, players don't work for guys like that.
Hire Fizdale. Kawhi wants out or George isn’t staying st OKC. Offer thunder or spurs hardaway and Mudiay or baker expiring and unprotected 19 pick. Kanter oquinn opts out. Knicks have cap space (probably have to stretch Noah although May make sense to keep him for one more year with KO hurt). Go get LBJ. LBJ wants to win championships. It makes no sense to go to west unless he goes to Houston. So that leaves Knicks or Sixers. Let Porizingis take his time coming back. LBJ, George, KP core with Frank, 2018 lottery pick, Burke, Lee, Dotson, mid level exception for a vet big man looks just as good to me as Phili and a better fit for LBJ because his game is too similar to Ben Simmons. LBJ would come to NY if there was a good enough team. Imagine they take bridges from Nova, imagine a small ball line up of:
PG - Frank
SG - George/Kawhi
SF - Bridges
PF - LBJ
C - Porzingis
Defensively - as good if not better than Golden State
Offensively - LBJ runs the point and feeds any of those guys for open looks
If it costs a protected 2021 pick as well to get kawhi or George knowing that LBJ would come then you do wha it takes

lol how high are you right now?
Jon, did you miss the part where he said it was simple? Â
but I think Lebron and Simmons could work really well together. Not sure how you would defend a LBJ/BS PnR. You sag off you give either of them a runway to build momentum and get an easy finish at the rim.

This pretty much sums it up, lol.
If he can get the attention of his players, and they win, so what?

Woodson and Jackson would be abject disasters.

Why has he not gotten any consideration since being fired?
And if he was such a good basketball coach why was he fired in the first place?
My god, what have I done?

apparently he hasn't had a single head coaching interview since he was fired THREE years ago. That's not a good sign.
He said "I'm praying for" Collins? Big deal. Revered NBA players have said far worse on the court.
