This mock makes the assumption that the Giants do NOT see a franchise QB in this year's draft and want to see Eli's next two years as Superbowl contenders. Against my own wishes, I'm breakin the law and not going QB!
That being said there are 3 non QB blue chip prospects and the Giants want one of those.
There is only 1 logical trading partner and that is Denver (or that pick is a proxy for another team that trades into it). I don't believe for one second that Keenum is their future and that press conference Elway had yesterday proclaiming him the future seals it. 100% misdirection there.
Giants trade #2 to Den for #5 and #40. This will allow the Giants to draft their guy and allow Denver to keep their multiple 3's and 4's to restock depth. DG said don't be cute, but they land #40 and get their HOF guy.
Since everyone in the top 3 want QBs - CLE is the outlier at #4. Assuming Darmold, Allen, Rosen go top 3, CLE takes Barkley at #4 although I think there is a strong chance they take Chubb or trade out. In this scenario they take Barkley.
Here's what the Giants do:
#5 - DE Bradley Chubb - Freak athlete, intense EDGE talent. Think Joey Bosa impact. Physically ready for the NFL day 1.
#34 - CB Josh Jackson - Ballhawk CB drops due to 1 year wonder stats and non freakish measureables. Long corner who can play boundary. Teams need 3 starters at CB so talent meets need here.
#40 - OL Tyrell Crosby - Powerful Right Side Player - Projects to ORG, but can play ORT and is a hedge against Flowers. Either way talent infusion AND versatility to the right side.
#66 - RB Ronald Jones - Homerun Hitter at TB. Will have time to work on pass pro and receiving but gets that behind Stewart and Gallman.
#69 - OLB Kemoko Turay - Raw talented EDGE threat will sit behind Vernon but will provide pass rush depth and possesses eventual starter traits.
#108 - DE Jaylin Holmes - 34 DE with great size and power. Not quick twitch but a good athlete that never unlocked his full potential at Ohio State. Will also play STs
#139 - WR Jester Weah - 6'3".4.43 40, 38" Vert. Big strong vertical plyer who can gun on specials and be a WR project behind Latimer. Tools are there but was mired in poor QB play at Pitt.
Two key UDFA additions:
OC Brian Allen - MSU OC to compete with Brett Jones at OC.
FS Natrell Jamerson - WIS FS has good size and speed. Former WR has ball skills and can really run with fleet TEs and WRs. Can play CB in a pinch.
There will be more FA additions once the draft is done and I dont think Marshall will be a Giant once the draft is over.
Can the Giants win?
If an OL of Solder/Omameh/Jones/Crosby/Flowers plays well, they've got a great shot. Get a running game going. Protect Eli.
If a DL of Chubb/Vernon/Turay/Harrison/Tomlinson/Holmes can get to the QB, then hell yes. Chubb is a really good player at a critical position of need.
Alright - done breakin the law, can't wait for the draft!
Passing on quarterback for one year run seems risky
1. Nelson OG
2. Darius Leonard OLB
2. Ronnie Harrison FS
3. Rashaad Penny RB
3. Nathan Shepherd DT
4. Holton Hill CB
5. Kevin Toliver CB
Exactly! Not enough value in return!!
Agree with Chubb/Barkley in first round...
At #34
If Chubb then Guice/Michel/Chubb
If Barkley then BPA Defense: Evans LB/Hughes CB/Landry Edge/
Need to get two OL in top 75... so Ragnow/Price/Crosby at #40 and Price/Crosby/Corbet/Smith at #66
At #69 DB: Bates/Averett/Gaulden
At #71 WR: Miller/Pettis/Washington/St. Brown
At #108 LB/Edge: Key/Jewell/Leonard/Nwosu
At #139 DB: White/Watts/WalkerStewart
UDFA hidden Gem: Tegray Scales, Indiana LB - will be a starter in the NFL

Like where your head is at. I would also be ok with an offensive lineman at 34 if someone good slips. I know it’s not popular amongst those who think Eli is toast, but we could have a solid team with this scenario, whether it is Barkley or Chubb in round one. The key to me for us to be competitive is to solidify the right side of the line, add a quality RB, and improve depth, particularly on the defensive side of the ball.
2) Need to get more in return.
Thank God you're not our GM because that's an awful deal. Just terrible.
