NGT: Rumor all may not be well in Patriots land

Beer Man : 4/18/2018 9:21 am
Says Brady is leading a push back against Belichick's culture. Is this the sign of the evil empire starting to crack?

Most likely. Its probably some writer trying to stir shit up while everyone else is writing about the draft.

Yep... the Giants should be so bad off!
It's been going on

thus the occasional leaks about BB possibly being open to a new gig, etc.

come to an end it will be a brutal and utter collapse. They get by year to year with the PROGRAM, run by the DICTATOR and the QUATERBACK. They do not develop talent for long term. They churn the roster regularly but at some point that will come to an end.
He must be pissed about trading Jimmy G
Oscar : 4/18/2018 9:42 am : link
That’s one rumor I genuinely believe. Brady will be finished soon, could be this year, could be next. And now the Pats have no viable alternative.
Curran & Mike Reiss

are the two most plugged in reporters in Pats land so I'll buy into this.

The other Patriots news/rumor reported this morning is that Brady has not committed to playing next year; although most believe that he will return for another season.

They have proven time and time again that they can get by without the QUATERBACK. It's more the PROGRAM and the DICTATOR.

Once the DICTATOR leaves, maybe the PROGRAM will as well, though McDaniel's will try to instill the program.

I think they will be fine with whoever mans the QB position when Brady leaves.
It is true that the Pats will almost certainly
Section331 : 4/18/2018 10:03 am : link
win 10 or so games next year, but that is due as much to the sorry state of their division as anything else. If this article were a one-off, I wouldn't lend it much credence, but they seem to be coming one on top of another.

BB was pissed at Brady for going to Kraft and force the Jimmy G trade, BB pissed at Kraft for forcing him to trade Jimmy G, Brady pissed at BB, even Gronk hinting at retirement may be more about his tiring of BB as it is injuries. It could be that writers smell blood in the water and are looking for stories like these, but BB benching Butler for the SB has to have players questioning his judgement.

It's never pretty when dynasties start showing cracks. It's going on in New England & it's going on with the Spurs in San Antonio.
As long as the Dolphins, Jets and Bills are in the AFC East...
the mike : 4/18/2018 10:45 am : link
Patriots will be a playoff team. Belichick and Brady will be back and they will get a playoff bye in 2018 as usual... Brady will be a 41 year old pro bowl quarterback with 4,000+ yards and 35 touchdown passes...

Things may not be well in Patriots land because they may lose to the Steelers in the AFC championship game... We should only be "not so well"...
As a poster said,

The Dictator/system thing an only work so especially in this era. Players grow up (ironicterm) softer, more sensitive, plus the System of replaceable parts churning players is not w/o fault including pushback from first one then 2, then 5, then ...players.
Vocal, rebellious guys like Butler,Gronk, Cooks(,I don't buy Boston media line he was a 1 trick pony thus the trade), and others that have left unquietly.
Hows this for odds:
BigBlue2112 : 4/18/2018 11:52 am : link
Higher % chance of Brady making the AFC title game in his career than you do of an NFL QB completing a pass. Let that sink in and tell me they wont be there again next season.

Two more points that render these reports of the Patriots demise as being woefully premature... And why I continue to believe that George Young's greatest mistake was believing that Belichick would not be a great head coach and heir apparent to Parcells... Belichick would still be our head coach today and we would never have even heard the names Ray Handley or Ben McAdoo....

First, great negotiated agreements are those where the parties are equally frustrated. The Garoppolo trade was a genius step because it created tremendous equilibrium amongst unsatisfied parties. Belichick was unsatisfied because he lost a top potential franchise quarterback and knows how hard it is to identify and develop one. Kraft had to be frustrated with only getting a second round pick, but he made the trade because it was good for Brady and ensured loyalty and leadership for the foreseeable future. Brady was/is unsatisfied because despite Kraft's commitment to him, Brady has to be the underpaid leader in the system/culture of Belichick which can probably be very suffocating and requires every ounce of Brady's talent to re-up with an entire new slate of players every year. So there is normal frustration in Patriot land. But it is frustration in equilibrium.

Second, I have always believed that only the top one hundred players are really relevant for the draft. Later players really ought to be pooled in another UDFA process that provides more cap flexibility and process fluidity than the current approach... The 3-13 Giants currently have four top one hundred draft picks, with one coming from the JPP trade... The Super Bowl winning Patriots have quietly assembled five top one hundred picks, just one less than the 0-16 Browns!!! Meaning, they will soon have at least five highly energized and talented draft picks who will be thrilled to the moon that they will be cutting their teeth in the NFL with Belichick. And they will all make impactful contributions to the 2018 team because of the Brady/Belichick process of rapid assimilation.... And look for them to draft Lauletta, Falk or White in the third round and make any of them solid NFL starting quarterbacks within two years...

Envious rant over.

Why George Young??? WHY???

If he didn't, he wasn't doing his job. And if he did, short of partial ownership I can't imagine any condition that Belichick would require that would be too much. If we're willing to pay any player $20 million under the salary cap, Belichick in an uncapped condition is worth three times that.

unfortunately, it may appear of any chance of BB back with giants have past for good. This last time was the opportunity of there was any chance of happening.

If BB was to go to another gig, it'll be with another team now.

Why? Because of Shurmur and Gettleman? Nothing against them, but if Belichick wants to be here they can't be the reasons that doesn't happen.
BB,

when he leaves the Pats, it will be because he retired.....he is not going to take another gig as a coach.....he will not take a chance on tarnishing his legacy....he has seen what happened to coaches that stayed around too long...

But can you imagine him as a sports commentator? It would be like watching paint dry....

Very true. But I think the biggest regret in his career is not having been given the chance to succeed Parcells when he absolutely earned it... He is downright sentimental when he talks about the Giants today and has been brought to tears reminiscing about his time here...
