I will say he is one guy I want us to add. Seems like a perfect fit for our new defense.
Agree I would be pretty happy with Carter with second round pick and it does sound like he's the kind of super athletic player that Bettcher likes at the 3-4 OLB. I think there's something to the idea though that he's more of a blitzer than a pure pass rusher. Not necessarily a bad thing, as he may end up more of a complete outside linebacker who becomes good at run defense, pass rush and coverage, but not great at any of them -- which is OK. I think though that the Giants may plan to move on from Olivier Vernon after next year unless he really produces next year--although it looks like they'd still take a big cap hit if they release him after 2019 season. His contract was just way too high for his production.
Other guys I think that might be a really good fit for what Bettcher likes in round 2 or 3 are Arden Key and Josh Sweat. Both I have a feeling though that Key is off the Giants draft board given his off field issues. I think Mara is done with taking chances on guys with real off field issues (of the Damontre Moore type, not Josh Rosen). I do think that Key has the look of a taller (at times leaner) version of LT. Not saying he'll ever be anything close to LT, but of all the pass rushers in this draft class, I think he may have the most potential for multiple 12+ sack seasons. Also huge bust potential. I am perplexed by his poor 40 time at his pro day though.

I like those selections.
Round 3 is a bit of a sweet spot for a pretty deep OL calss and we could get the likes of Ragnow, Braden Smith, Geron Christian etc. in that area.

don't see us taking Carter in round two.
