Belichick likes Rosen but Giants fans don't

firedbytheboss : 4/18/2018 3:18 pm
There are heavy rumors on the Pats board that Belichick hopes Rosen drops and they can trade up to nab Rosen. The Pats have two firsts remember.

I pray the Giants take Rosen at #2, my fear is that he lands with the Jets, or worse, with the Pats. That would be just swell if the Pats get the next Tom Brady and we wind up with a running back who will be declining by the time he is 28.

Hmm

Honestly, they might

and we would be one of the best smokescreens I've ever seen.
f--- the Pats...
DonQuixote : 4/18/2018 3:21 pm : link
they are just going to have to lose more games to get a guy like Rosen. The Giants have it all figured out,
Rosen good at 31
YorkAveGiant : 4/18/2018 3:23 pm : link
Or in 20s.

Belichick is right again.
I would think lots of teams in the back half of draft would hope Rosen

drops so they could take him...
I'm pretty sure that there might be a bunch of players

predicted to go in the first few spots that back-end teams hope would drop to them. Before Verlander, I was hoping the Kate Upton might come over and, um, watch tv with me.
All this guy does is post anti-Barkley comments.

Why on earth would a Giants fear anything regarding

the Pats' or Jets' drafts? I fear the NFC east teams drafting well. After the Giants, I hope all the best drafts are in the AFC.

His boss was a big Barkley fan, too.

IYou can really understand

his handle
Belichek hopes he slips out of the top 10 (which won't happen)
Knee of Theismann : 4/18/2018 3:43 pm : link
So he's automatically "the next Tom Brady". Okay.
The rumor is...
Milton : 4/18/2018 3:47 pm : link
Brady and the 23rd overall pick to Denver for the 5th overall pick and Paxton Lynch.
If no one else will say it, I will!

That picture is literally a picture of the absence of bait!!
I think the Pats...
bw in dc : 4/18/2018 3:54 pm : link
do have their eye on the best QB.

And they shouldn't have to move up too far, if at all actually, to take LamJax.
He doesn't have to slip out of the top ten.
Ira : 4/18/2018 3:57 pm : link
The Pats have enough value to trade up to 5 or 6.
Who gives a shit about

what the Patriots or Jets do for that matter. Whatever DG does is what he feels is best for the team. I could give a rat's ass if whomever the Jets take becomes a success or not. It happens with every team in when selection. You hit or miss. There is no guarantees in any player selected. 11 teams pased on OBJ, so what. A lot of the players taken in front of OBJ are having success to and some teams missed totally. Can't think about that.
Plenty of Giants fans like Rosen... including myself.
T-Bone : 4/18/2018 4:10 pm : link
Curious though, why were you on a Patriots site?
Rosen

I doubt that there are many here who don't think that Rosen has the potiential tools.

However.

1- Who cares what the Pats or Bill think?
2- The red flag is the concussions for me. The guy is one good hit away from a career being done.
3- Why are you so concerned that he ends up with the Jets? You can always become a Jets fan and follow your boy there. Well until game 3 or 4 where he gets rocked and he is done.
4- Yes maybe Barkley will be on the decline by 28. In the meantime he will be tearing it up and makeing the Giants a much better team. Fair trade IMO.
This is the part that's too often wildly overstated

Saying things like this is what makes these discussions turn into neverending circular arguments. He is not "one good hit from a career being done" and there would be literally no way whatsoever you could make that claim stand up. Nate Solder's had at least three reported, documented concussion since his NFL career began. He's doing fine.
I love Rosen
The_Boss : 4/18/2018 5:14 pm : link
I think he’s gonna be the best of this crop by far.

Just sayin

I am by no means an expert nor do I have a doctor's degree. I have had to take quite a few mandatory courses on concussions, and head trama etc... Mandated by Football Canada the last couple of years. Few things that stuck out very clearly. Yes. The amount of concussions a person can take differs. However. Two is the red flag number. If they are within the same season that is even a bigger red flag. Some of things that they have showed me are truly scary.

So you may disagree. That is fine. You have that right. However. With what they are learning daily about the cause and effect of concussions. It is too risky IMO to take that kind of risk with a second pick.
IMO Rosen will be a bust.
larryflower37 : 4/18/2018 5:55 pm : link
Will be one injury after another.
Barkley will have a strong career.
A Play on words?
Bruner4329 : 4/18/2018 6:03 pm : link
There is a Big Difference between liking Rosen and liking him for the second pick. If BB had the second pick would he pick him? That is the real question. My guess is no.
Rosen is the real deal. The team or teams which pass on him will end
Chris L. : 4/18/2018 6:49 pm : link
up regretting it BIG TIME. The worst nightmare would be us passing and the Jets scooping him up.

How exactly do you know he the “real deal”?? I’ve watched him a bit, and wasn’t overly impressed. I watch the UCLA/USC game and thought he had a pretty good first half where he definitely looked better than Darnold, but that was it.

I don't agree it is a fair trade. Please consider positional value.. just in one season alone. A league average QB is more valuable than the best RB in the league. That is why Kirk Cousins will get $84M fully guaranteed and the best RB in football, Lev Bell, can't even get a contract. Then add to that additional years of value. RBs are done in 5 to 6 years, at least their peak value is done, some are done sooner like Chris Johnson (who Bark is often compared to). So in the case of CJ, he looked the much better pick than Matt Ryan (who came out in the same draft) in year 3, but now we know Matt Ryan is the greater player. Ryan is going to the playoffs every year and CJ is DONE.

Now look at Rosen and Barkley. I think Rosen has a much better chance to become a top-15 back, than Barkley has a chance to become Barry Sanders. And even if Barkley does, I would contend Rosen would still be more valuable as a top-12 guy. And in terms of career value, it won't be close. QB is a better investment and QB is a better gamble. And for the record I think Rosen can be much better than top-12. I think he has a chance to be really elite. And an elite QB is by far the most valuable player in the game. Rodgers, Brady, Peyton are more than twice as valuable as Saquon can ever possibly be, no matter how good he gets.
