for me, I think it's Darnold if the Browns go Allen. If not, I think the Giants go Barkley if Darnold is off the board at #1. Chubb also would not surprise me if Darnold is gone.
I really do think Darnold is the perfect QB for the Giants.

Alas, that leads to a missed golden opportunity and Jints Central drafts Barkley.

And then Dave Gettleman cluster drafts offensive linemen early and often to protect an aging, jittery QB.
BBI servers will crash with the absurd number of Day 1 and Day 2 picks.
ok this is a good question and worth an answer. In my opinion the Barkley talk by beat people is not a smokescreen, in the way we understand that word. However, I think what we are seeing is beat writers:
a) hoping for their guy and therefore interpreting a lot of comments and moves to mean Barkley is the pick.
b) the Giants possibly talking about players they like that they don't intend to take, Barkley, Chubb, Darnold. But not talking at all about players they are meeting that they really like. Rosen, maybe Mayfield. Teh silence on those two guys is pretty remarkable, meanwhile Rosen feels the meeting was great. Why would the Giants not talk up Rosen? Well there is still a small chance that the Browns will take him, or the Jets/Bills/Pats might love him and make a huge push to get to number one. No reason to talk up the guys you really like at this stage.
I don't know what I want, I know what I don't want. But my gut says it will be a trade down.
Barkley may be a smokescreen to throw teams off of a QB that the Giants may want. Or to entice the Browns to possibly screw up and take him at 1. Either way, there is no incentive for the Giants to divulge their actual plans this far ahead of the draft.

I'm not even saying Barkley WILL be the guy at 2. but Giants fans are kidding themselves if they don't think he's absolutely 100% in the conversation to take him at 2, running back or not, gettleman wont care if he's wearing the gold jacket.

It would have to be Darnold in that case IMO I would think. neither Rosen or Mayfield are in play for the Browns at #1. I just think the Giants really do love Barkley and they will absolutely be tempted to take him regardless of what people think about value and if a RB is worth taking that high. They just may not care if he checks all the boxes, again not saying he WILL be the pick, but there's fire here.

Assuming they have no conviction about a QB (or taken pick 1), trade down and still get a position player in first row and xtra picks 😁
What I do know is BBI will go into a melt down on whoever we pick. The QB people vs The Barkley and Chubb people vs the trade down people.
I just want it to be over already.
Now if DG decides to trade the pick or draft chubb or barkley he could state that he believes in his franchise QB Eli and his protoje Webb and was drafting the highest board player on their board. Basically saying we weren't looking for a QB. We have a different strategy. Thus eliminating that discussion.
It's just a thought. I know you shouldn't care about this stuff as a GM but I would think the Mara's and Tisch's would hate to draft the wrong QB and the Jets draft the right one. They do share a stadium.
I woudlnt guarantee the Browns are taking Barkley at 4 in that scenario. Lot of resources they are putting into one position. They can easily take Chubb and then take Guice in 2nd as well?
We don't need another Perkins/Gallman on the roster.

They could, which is probably why we've heard Chubb is in play at #2.
We don't need another Perkins/Gallman on the roster.
Or Brandon Jacobs/Ahmad Bradshaw either!!!!
