Both check out to me.
Barkley is no brainer intangibles + 230 lb, Barry Sanders/Marshall Faulk combo, Allen is John Elway incarnate who was exited off his feet of the premise of every major college program and his head was used to open the f***ing door damn chip on his shoulder.
Maybe Darnold - if Darnold maybe Barkley.
Allen is bust material. Stay away unless you trade down which they shouldn't do.
Legit question: Who is/was a better prospect -- Saquan Barkley or Ki-Jana Carter? I went back and watched Carter's highlights from back in the day and he was a totally different back than Barkley. Barkley was flashier and looks like he has some better moves, but Carter ran over people, flew past people and juked people out. And he was 2 inches shorter, lower center of gravity but nearly the same weight, maybe 5 lbs less. Who knows what Carter might have been if he hadn't gotten that knee injury -- or if he had gotten it 10-15 years later when the surgery and rehab were much more advanced.
I'm not in the take Barkley boat at all, but was just curious about the comparison as these are probably the only guys who have been truly considered as a #1 pick in the last 20+ years. Maybe Marshall Faulk or Tomlinson, but I don't think anyone had them actually going #1. I suppose Mike Ditka had Ricky Williams as his #1, but obviously the Colts didn't.
I will say, I miss the old grind it out Big Ten from the 90s. Tyrone Wheatley was my favorite Giants draft pick of all time. Probably the only pick I've ever guessed correctly too. I still blame Dan Reeves and Jim Fassel for messing that one up. George Young got that one right.
agree.. He's a mix of Barry Sanders and Jim Brown. With the strength of Schwartzenegger and the intelligence of Einstein and the speed of Usain Bolt. The guy should wear a friggin cape..
Among the QBs, Darnold is the "best bet".
Rosen and Allen are the highest "risk / reward", Allen's risk due to the level of competition and his completion percentage; reward due to his incredible arm strength. Rosen due to many factors, the 2 separate game missing concussions in 1 season being the biggest; reward due supposedly being most "pro ready".

Rosen's injuries are a concern because of the time missed, but both Mayfield and Allen have arguably had bigger injuries.

He’s probably going to be a very good to great player, but enough of these stupid comparisons.

Ridiculous... Wheatley was a complete bust. George Young got some things right... but Wheatley was not one of them.
One of these 4 will be Giants unless they trade down and you could add Nelson to the list.

1-- Rosen is not even clsoe to being high risk.
2-- Getting more and more negative on Darnold. Heard from guys such as Greg Cosell and some others. Go to youtube. If you like pocket passers -- heavy pass on Darnold.
3-- Get Rosen an OLine thne he'll be fine. ANd hasn't Darnold also had 2 concussions?
4-- Most importantly the 3 you chose as "best bets" takes ZERO consideration into "positional value." Individually yes they are a better bet. But long term you don't want to have to be paying $30m (probably higher in year and beyond) for "Kirk Cousins."" The better bet is the QB.

Dan Reeves, though, wanted to draft Rashaan Salaam over Wheatley. Sad story for sure, and i was disheartened to read an interview from Reeves where he didn't "remember" the name of the RB he wanted to draft, but Wheatley definitely had a better career than Salaam. I suppose part of it was that I idolized him when I was a Michigan fan as a kid and his 235 yard Rose Bowl was a performance for the ages, but I do think that had he been with Jon Gruden in Oakland from the beginning of his career, he could've had a much better career from the start. His teammates in NY, Charles Way, for instance, talked about his talent. But Reeves hated him and Jim Fassel drafted his ideal RB in Tiki Barber and Tiki took over the starting role right away. Who knows, but I'll never stop believing that Wheatley should have been Rodney Hampton's heir apparent for the Giants.
