Not sure if it was discussed here but I have a buddy who is a huge Canes fan and He loves Walton. He believes he has Kamara upside Walton visits Giants - ( New Window )
Reminds me of Ahmad Bradshaw when you watch him on tape
he is someone they can get in the 4th and provide a lot of upside. I'd rather have a guy like this late in the draft, maybe two guys, than a #2 on Barkley..
A good all around talent who's a little light. NFL.Com sees him as a 4th or 5th round pick, but I would guess later.
Other RB's out there I like better for what they could do for the Giants roster who will go then or later are:
Jordan Chunn - Short yardage specialist.
Philip Lindsay - All around smaller firecracker.
Boston Scott - AKA, Mighty Mouse. Change of pace "air back." Compared to Quiz Rodgers. Eye popping numbers and moves.
if you want a hopeful comp I'd say James White. He does everything well, has good vision, works hard, and plays tougher than his size. He can catch and pass protect. In the 4th round he'd be a really solid addition - he's just not super explosive. Maybe in the most optimistic scenario he could be kind of like Tiki, because he does have the ability to play 3 downs despite his size, but I wouldn't bet on that personally.
Current list of player with whom the Giants are reported to have met. Â
we already have two guys like this (late round *upside* backs) on the roster.
Players like Gallman and Perkins are generally what you get in rounds 4-7. Anything better is considered a stroke of luck.
Gallman is a very good RB. Nothing wrong with his game that little better blocking won't help.
Gallmam is a “good” RB. Maybe. Perkins looked good as a rookie too. And yet, there is a clear difference between players like Wayne Gallmam and Saquon Barkley, which was the point.

Must all discussions of any RB have something to do with Barkley? I honestly didn't make the connection. Does it all have to be about Barkley, or alternately Rosen, or whoever else the talking heads are babbling about? There are a lot of players in this draft, some of which will not be drafted in the first round, but which are still needed to help build a roster. One of the things this team needs is a money short yardage back. I don't know that one is one the team now, and it sure as hell ain't Barkley based upon what I've seen of his play.
Good RB's come from many different rounds. If the Giants draft Barkley, most indications are that he'll be a superb RB, and they can go on to rebuild their team. If the Giants DON'T draft Barkley, they will get a different excellent player, and other RB's will carry the load and they'll go on to rebuild their team.
There isn't one new player who is going to fix all the problems this team has had and suddenly make it a contender.
Walton has had some injuries including last year. His 40 time was Â

Almost every comment firedbytheboss makes is directed at not drafting Barkley, whether it is to propose other RB's to pick, to say it is a bad economic decision, or even to say things like Barkley shies away from contact.
It is strange that we have several posters who fixate on only one topic and direct every comment on that topic.

In case you hadn't noticed, "firedbytheboss" brought up Barkley. As he always does. As his part of his agenda. So why dont you ask him?

Had it not been for last year’s injury, he might have been a round 2-3 prospect, so 4th round might be about right for him now.
