If Buffalo has a preferred QB drafting at 5 may not and likely will not get them that player.
That is a lot of risk after spending so much draft capital to move up.
It is possible that QBs will go 1,2,and 3, therefore, Buffalo better like the fourth QB available.
And it is not out of the question that Cleveland could trade out of the 4th pick. If Miami, or some other team makes them an offer they cannot refuse. Then all four or the premium QBs can be selected before Buffalo picks.
the Giants stay at two and it’s Darnold or Chubb...SB is great but they can get a good RB in a later rd whereas they won’t find what Chubb can bring to this defense...really feel like he’s exactly what this D needs and can be an immediate relentless tone setter and leader on day 1.
Hitdog said this a few weeks back. He said he wants to trade down, but that's looking unlikely. Obviously that could change, but we all know Hitdog is always on the money.
I don't think there's a trade down option available to take and still get one of them. Browns at #4 probably get whoever is left of those three, with Jets picking Mayfield.
RE: It looks like it's one of Darnold/Barkley/Chubb Â

Chubb is the wildcard. I have this weird feeling Browns will take Allen 1 & NYG takes Chubb with everyone screaming about the pick.
And they walk away with one of Rosen-Mayfield-Allen.
So you want to give up the premium pick for lower end prospects because you want to stay on the draft longer than 10 min....What a fantastic way of looking at this
happy with 5 because it will mean they don't have to give up next years first and still get one of the top 4 QBs. Really it means they most likely get Josh Rosen who they probably love. Allen, Darnold, and Mayfield along with Barkley go top 4 is almost a given now. Hell if Cleveland goes Allen and Giants go Barkley, then Jets go Darnold and Cleveland probably goes Chubb... They may have a choice between Mayfield and Rosen although I think they like Rosen a lot. The only fear they would have is if it goes Allen, Darnold, Mayfield, and Cleveland trades down bypassing Barkley and no one thinks that will happen. They move to 5 and they basically get Rosen so no need to go to #2. Pretty smart really.
but Kim Jones asked DG if that HoF gold coat talent was available at #2 in this draft, and DG said yes.
That prospect/upside means more to NYG than trading down for quantity. I think they stay put.
I would always be skeptical about GM's (and this is not specific to Gettleman) saying that a player is going to be a Hall of Famer, they have a hard enough time figuring out if the player can be halfway decent in the league to begin with. The HOF stuff is all bs.
Have referenced the gold-jacket comment as evidence that they don;t plan on drafting a QB. But the question was asked yesterday if that "criteria" applied to QBs. What he said was, when you look at QBs you ask the question, does the player make the players around him better. So this notion of we are drafting player I believe is HOF worthy and that's the criteria was debunked from the source. Not that a little common sense would not have led one to the same conclusion that there was some color to the remark, but some folks are so desperate to be right they'll twist any remark into their favor.

Leverage in negotiations. If you want the #2 pick you will need to give me the value of a HOF in additional picks
that seems like a pipe dream....as Cleveland wants him at 4.
I will admit.....I would like a little action on Thuraday night.
I will be disappointed ... 10min. into Thursday....the Giants pick a player....and night is over. :(
Orrrr disinfo from Buffalo to convince the Giants that theirs is the best offer they are going to get and to again lower our price.
Gettleman has absolutely ZERO reason to make any decision until the Browns make their pick.

What if the Giants trade back into 1?
And Aaron Rodgers was?
Rosen would be fine in NY.
Without rereading the transcript, I don't think he totally ruled it out
Quote:
That rings true, Rosen doesn't seem like a cold weather blue collar QB. Guess I think of Jim Kelly.

Let the Jets find out....
someone asked him that question.
he said....he had no interest in giving away future pick to move up
Not 1st overall, but back into rd 1. But even if he meant the latter, how would he know until the oicks start coming in?
from what I hear and saw.
Possible, but it seems likely the Giants stay at 2.

George....buddy....I am not suggesting trading up to 1. I am suggesting packaging the 2nd rounder to trade back into the FIRST ROUND.
other then right now....they still have more holes than picks.
other then right now....they still have more holes than picks.
Right, so that's why you have to watch the rest of the 1st round! :-)
A: I’m not going to do that. I’m going to tell you that right now. Right now, I have no intention of dipping into future drafts. None.

Completely agree - Gettleman making any decision before we are on the clock would be a mistake...

I'm pretty sure he said he has no intention of dipping into future years' drafts to trade up. That's an important distinction.
NYG is supposedly high on Mason Rudolph, do they like him enough to move into late first if needed?
Agreed. Not trading up to 1. DG sent a message to the Browns, if you want Darnold take him there which I think they will.

does not compute.

Unclear, but he's a prospect to watch.
