Anyone else feel more comfortable tonight
Shecky : 4/20/2018 5:55 pm : link
If they moved Thor up two more spots in the lineup?
Any idea why they aren't going to more of a OF rotation Sheck?
ZGiants98 : 4/20/2018 6:11 pm : link
I was all for it but seems like they truly do view Nimmo as a bench player at this point.
And to be clear...
ZGiants98 : 4/20/2018 6:12 pm : link
Im not saying they view Nimmo as a "bench player" in general. Im saying they view him as somebody that doesnt deserve playing time over three all stars (Cespedes, Conforto, and Bruce) which is still surprising.
Bruce needs to play

Its tough. AGone has three hits in the last two games and plays a much better defense than Bruce would. I was all for Bruce maybe getting one start a week there to get Nimmo in the lineup a little more but it's not something they are willing to do it seems. At least yet.
Good luck tonight boys
Jay on the Island : 4/20/2018 7:29 pm : link
I am hoping that Newcomb has command of his pitches tonight because the Braves cannot afford to make any mistakes against Thor.
Bruce better start
Metnut : 4/20/2018 7:34 pm : link
hitting if he wants to keep playing. He has a 70 wRC and has been awful in the OF. Truly awful out there. If Nimmo truly is the better option then he needs to play.

I’m not saying we’re there yet, but keep an eye on it. The final answer might be Bruce at 1B but AGonz is hitting. Players with far larger contracts than Bruce have taken a seat.
Hoping for a big outing from Thor
jpkmets : 4/20/2018 7:34 pm : link
Interested to see if that wicked change-up is back again.
Don’t worry folks

whenever I rip into Bruce he has a monster night.

Welp.

That HR was off a 100 mph pitch for those still worried about Thor only being able to throw 98/99 his last few starts. lol

What does that have to do with anything? Im referring to the posters questioning Thor's velocity.

No need to get pissy. I was just pointing out a good play made by a promising young player. Did anyone seriously worry about Thor's velocity?
Not pissy at all.
ZGiants98 : 4/20/2018 7:57 pm : link
Your comment seemed weirdly defensive over Albies or something for some reason. Yes posters were seriously worried about Thor throwing 98 mph in 37-degree weather. It was a real thing.
Someone other than Cabrera really needs to start hitting with
PhiPsi125 : 4/20/2018 7:57 pm : link
more consistently. It’s really frustrating when every hitter is underperforming.

Why would I be defensive over Albies? I love the kid I was just impressed that he actually went deep off Thor.
Newcomb has almost a 13 k/9...
ZGiants98 : 4/20/2018 7:59 pm : link
We struggle against lefties.... and strike out a lot. Seems like a good recipe tonight.

I really hope the 12-1 start wasn’t all luck and smoke and mirrors.

The Mets are by far the worst hitting team in the division. I know it’s early but it’s a little concerning.

Mickey Callaway and Matt Harvey haven't talked about Harvey's job status yet. But Callaway noted his history of success sending guys to the bullpen on a short-term basis.

"We can help guys," Callaway said. "Guys have to be willing to be helped." https://www.newsday.com/sports/baseball/mets/mets-matt-harvey-bullpen-rotation-1.18181188 …

Our best hitters are the outfielders and they are all cold. It won't last.

Good luck with that Mickey. There’s no way Harvey agrees to go to the pen. Ultimate team player.
There's nothing Harvey can do
ZGiants98 : 4/20/2018 8:11 pm : link
Sounds like they are considering the minors, the bullpen, or possibly DLing him. Either way, Harvey is about to lose his spot.
Nice job

are going to be at least solid teams. NL East will be tough this year. Bright side is that we’ll get to see lots of interesting players all year.
Man, it would really be a boost if Rosario can start hitting
PhiPsi125 : 4/20/2018 8:15 pm : link
like he should be. I’m tired of watching everyone else’s rookies overachieve and being left out of the party lol.
Atta boy, Conforto.

It’s the little things.
Good job Conforto
ZGiants98 : 4/20/2018 8:16 pm : link
Had to get that in.
You can see why Rosario
Metnut : 4/20/2018 8:16 pm : link
is such an elite prospect. Tools everywhere. Remember how young he is. He needs to play every day and get ABs vs MLB pitching.
Quality AB by Conforto
jpkmets : 4/20/2018 8:17 pm : link
good to get those guys whom from 3rd with less than 2 outs.

This offense will get better as the year goes on. Whole OF won't be cold together for much of the year (I hope).

I really like Mickey and Eilend’s no nonsense
Rflairr : 4/20/2018 8:19 pm : link
approach with Harvey. Doesn’t sound like they’re going to baby him

Sometimes a trip to AAA to rebuild confidence is all that is needed. Dansby Swanson was awful last season and was sent down for 3-4 weeks. When he returned to the majors his play improved and he is off to a good start this season.

If anyone thinks Harvey accepts a trip
bhill410 : 4/20/2018 8:32 pm : link
To minors they are delusional. It’s bp, phantom DL with rehab start, or he is making another start.

Personally I wouldn’t mind seeing him one more time with the understanding that if you fail you are in the bullpen. Be curious to see how he reacts to that kind of binary event.
nice rip

Flores.

Still slow as can be.
Thank you Wilmah

Well, I think it’s a bit premature to send down Rosario. I mean, he’s hitting .246. Not great but not horrible. Swanson was sub .200 for a bit. I’d like to see if he can turn things up a notch against MLB pitching. There’s nothing to gain from posting boosted hitting stats in Vegas.

The problem is that he's out either way. You arent giving Harvey his spot back and putting Vargas in the pen after Harvey has been bad for a month and his stuff is noticeably not there. You are right that Harvey can refuse assignment to Vegas but Mickey was literally just talking about it as a possibility before the game tonight. It does sound like they are leaning pen though which is fine. He would basically replace Bautista who clearly isnt ready anyway. .
starting OF hitting a combined

.202 or so.

Pretty amazing this team is where it is with the lack of production out there.

I agree with you that it is too soon. I was suggesting that if he continue to struggle then send him down for a confidence boost.
Good thing Wisler went 7 last night
