I cannot wait any longer for the draft. It drives me nuts that we have to wait till a Thursday night to see one round, then another round the next day, and so on into Saturday.
I truly miss the Saturday, at noon, all day drafts of yesteryear (not that long ago) - that was my favorite day of the offseason by far and for the better part of 20 years, sitting and watching the draft unfold on April saturdays, even the first round, was memorable.
Anyone else feel the same way?
.
It makes day exciting as teams can regroup and make trades to move up in the 2nd.
we drafted TE in 2nd....never made it.
Billy Ard was only other player that made it....in 8thrd!
That was mostly before the age when reams of draft info was readily available on the web, so we’d pick up a couple local papers and a draft guide or 2 to read, come up with our own scratch draft board for the Giants and our own personal favorites on a legal pad, and spend the day talking football and discussing the Giants picks.
First round is exciting this year bc we’re picking high, but I can’t imagine a reason to sit and watch that much of the coverage otherwise.
After round 1 or 2, they don’t even show the picks announced on TV anymore, just scrolling at the bottom while talking heads bleat on

The 1981 draft was at the Sheraton in NY, not Radio City.
Can't wait for Thursday
Maybe 1-3 Sat and 4-7 Sunday?
I would be okay with 1-3 rounds on Saturday and 4-7 rounds on Sunday, but it isn’t a prime time event that way.
Back in the day it was NY post, hungover, cigarette, coffee: and 'who did the giants draft.'
Now it's oh, look, that wrs mom looks frigging hot in that Christian Dior dress....
There was a time when 1:00 Sunday during football season meant the Giants were on TV.
And when the draft meant replenishing a team with players who were bound to the team for their entire career.
And then came Sun night. Thu night. Shifted games. Commercial breaks after a TD. After the point after. After the kickoff. The draft spread over three days.
And then there is free agency. The NFL screwed the pooch. Should have organized as one big corporation with players as employees of the NFL, not employees of teams. That way there wouldn't be free agency. I mean it's great for the players, but frankly I'm not all that empathetic to multi-millionaires, be they professional athletes, actors, etc.
Fee agency sucks the big whazoo.
... bleh
I used to take both days off from work (I considered it a holiday... lol)

Giants' 1981 draft also yielded John Mistler, Bill Neill and Byron Hunt. Not superstars, but all were contributors for at least a few seasons.
Maybe 1-3 Sat and 4-7 Sunday?
That's what it was up until 2010. As far as I remember, during the televised era of the draft, it was never completed in one day the way the OP describes.

Simms was drafted in 1979 on a Thu daytime draft that ended Fri.
