but sits again. He should be the everyday 1B with Bird out.
Agreed, it really kind of infuriates me actually (not literally) but it's certainly frustrating. He's OPSing .931 compared to Walkers paltry jaundice .460
25 walks for Didi in 2016 , not even May yet and he's got 15 already Â
Judge getting off to such a good start and picking up where he left off last season has gone a bit unnoticed. More attention being given to the slumping players.
He’s showing it was no fluke.
Great AB by Gardy before him to battle back from 0-2 for a walk in front of Judge
pitches the other way, or laying off those off the plate this season. I almost suspect pitchers will soon start changing up their game plan and trying to bust him in more often.
Torres should come up to replace Wade/Walker at 2b, leave Andujar at3b and Austin at 1b.
I'm not convinced Andujar is fully ready for MLB. He swings out of control hard - watch how many times he is off balance when he misses. His glove is better than I thought, but not quite there yet. Things could be worse, but I just think he needs a little more seasoning to get that swing under control.
I like Austin a lot and he should remain as b/u 1st base even when Bird returns.
If Wade doesn't start hitting soon, he'll have to go down. The glove is there, but he just is not hitting. I think it is only a matter of time before Gleyber Torres is called up.
Funny, but Torreyes I hope stays. He just plays well and always gets bat on ball and is reliable if unspectacular at three IF positions.
I’m not sure I understand the logic behind sending Andujar down “to get his swing under control”. I’ve seen it a bunch on here recently and I just don’t understand what people are expecting? This is how Andujar swings. He's likely always going to have that aggressive swing, it’s what he’s obviously done his entire life. The guy is 23 years old and I don’t think he’s swinging this way simply because he’s overwhelmed at MLB or he needs more seasoning. They aren’t going to revamp his swing in a couple months of AAA, he’s already been there.
People aren’t used to seeing a swing like this so it’s assumed it’s something that needs fixing. It’s how he swings and it isn’t changing by sending him to the minors. There have been many unorthodox swings over the years that were very successful.
RE: RE: Bringing up Torres to replace Andujar would be a huge mistake Â

I don't see an out of control swing. Seems to me he has more of a conpact swing with a quick explosive burst. During the game they brought up a stat showing that he is making very good contact and driving the ball at a high rate compared to everyone else.
Pinstripe Alley is reporting the Torres has been promoted! Yay! Â
He was pulled from the game today, so hopefully, that is the case. And as I mentioned before he was playing second so hopefully we'll see a lineup including both Torres and Andujar. Link - ( New Window )
Andujar out of control is comical. All he does is hit. And he showed Â
The mental fortitude to shake off the slow start. Alot of other guys should be so out of control. The guy can flat out hit. And with power to all fields.

He swings out of his shoes and eventually pitching staffs will figure his weak points. He falls off the plate or steps across it on many of his swings and misses. When he makes contact it is solid. I can live with him learning on the job both at the plate and at 3B. Maybe Marcus Thames can adjust him, but he should be at SWB, ideally.
And he will have to adjust like good hitters do. AND Â
Doesn’t have a strikeout problem and doesn’t have a soft contact problem. Until he has either or both of those things, he can fall over every time he swings, for all I care.
Would be great to see him have a little better zone control, but the hit/contact tool is so good that he’s mostly fouling off the ones he chases outside the zone.
This is the kind of bat that you stick right behind the Judge/Didi/Stanton/Sanchez crowd and watch the RBI pile up. He’s going to be a doubles machine.

I think you put it well. The hard contact was what I was trying to refer to. Couldn't recall exactly what they said on the broadcast, however.
His name has been around for a while, so it's easy to forget that. Only 2 years older than Gleyber.
By the time he is 26 or 26, many of those doubles will become home runs. Soriano did it, and he was no bigger than Andujar when he first started for the Yankees--but was two years older. Starting at age 26--3 years from now for Andujar--Soriano averaged 37.4 HR/year for 5 years. Maybe that's a stretch as a central tendency for Andujar, but certainly not unreasonable at a goal.
If people stay healthy, with another year or so, Judge, Stanton, Gleyber, Andujar, Sanchez, Didi, Bird, Hicks, and whomever hits at DH will be just nuts on opposing pitchers.
What if Todd Frazier gets healthy and learns a proper swing to go with that world-class bat speed? And then Florial, of course. Exciting stuff.
That as if this moment I don’t think it’s crazy to say that judge is the best player in baseball. Of course he said i am nuts. Then i told him to look at his stats and factor in that he plays a near flawless RF and is a terrific base runner. The guy is nothing short of perfect. His obp is absurd. He does it all and his character is even better.
when the umpires figure out how high his knees are. He is still getting too many low strikes called against him.
And how is this for crazy? Only two players have a higher OPS than Judge right now. One of the happens to be Didi, only .035 behind Betts. A SS with a 1.166 OPS has to ALSO be considered among the best players in the league. Of course it won't last, but wow.

I’m not sure whether he’s the best or not, that Trout guy is still pretty good too, as is Altuve, but I wouldn’t trade Judge for any player in the league. Some of that is bias, but there is something to be said for him being homegrown and such a great human being. He’s incredibly fun to root for. When you take contract situation into account, who would anyone rather have? Judge is an absolute bargain and at minimum top 5 player in the league.
What’s funny (and annoying) is that so many people refuse to believe he is this good. It seems many keep waiting for “reality” to set in and Judge will eventually turn into a ..220 hitter that strikes out 300 times. Maybe it’s beca he was never a top 10 prospect or maybe it’s because people aren’t used to seeing a guy his size have this kind of success, but I think it’s time everyone on the planet realizes that Judge is really THIS GOOD. He’s incredible at every phase of the game.
Agreed. I guess analytics don't factor in things like slumps and hot stretches.

Lastly, his swing seems faster...witness getting around on some pitches and sending them down the line more often than last year.
A slump will inevitably come, but he’s the real deal
And good luck with that
7-1 Yankees!
I think we gonna be rockin with Andujar at third and Torres at second
Now you’re talking...
Glad to see Andujar is gonna make this hard on the front office.

Judge may be better than last year..scary.
