Second Round Scenario

DonnieD89 : 4/22/2018 1:10 pm
Say that the Giants take one of Darnold, Barkley, or Rosen at #2 and you have on day two one of RB Sony Michel, CB Isaiah Oliver, OG Will Hernandez, and Edge Rusher Sam Hubbard sitting there at #34, Who do you take? I find these types of scenarios evident when I am playing firstpick.com. Fome, I always pick Will Hernandez; however, I always think should I take Isaiah Oliver. I also think where are the edge rushers after the first round. What are your choices?
I

think the Giants will take Tyrell Crosby. I expect Hernandez to be gone. Denver wants to trade down and get him and Ward.
Man a shut down CB allows you to do so much more defensively
Big_Blue_in_the_Bronx : 4/22/2018 1:15 pm : link
And Oliver has a decent chance to be that.
In that scenario
Anakim : 4/22/2018 1:15 pm : link
I think Oliver is the best player available so I would take him
My guess
stoneman : 4/22/2018 1:17 pm : link
is that they will have 2 or 3 picks in this crucial 25-35 pick range. Will be interesting to rate this 3rd row of ratings. I do prey they trade down ad get these picks.

I always tend to add top Oline and/or CB/S picks in this range.
Hernandez

O-Line takes priority and he represents value at that spot.
I'd take the OL player for sure
PatersonPlank : 4/22/2018 1:51 pm : link
I wouldn't consider another RB if we took Barkley
If there
kes722 : 4/22/2018 2:38 pm : link
Were a way to take OL with every pick I would
I keep going to Hernandez
Rjanyg : 4/22/2018 2:38 pm : link
But I can see Oliver there. Maybe Braden Smith is available in round 3.

We have all day Friday to

Figure things out;)
Oliver

is going to go in the first I think. There’s going to be a heavy run on corners I think in the mid 1st to mid twenties.

There are no more excuses. For 6 years, this OL has been an embarrassment. No more late round picks with the hope that they develop. We need men whom can't be moved. Whether it is Eli/Webb/rookie, it is imperative that we begin to provide a pocket for them to operate from.

While many think he will be picked in the first due to his combine, I suspect that scouts will hold the level of competition against him at El Paso making him available at the top of the second.
I would take Braden Smith - combination of G/T
giantstock : 4/22/2018 4:47 pm : link
Anyhow I'd take the best OL on the board.

This draft is deep in red-chip prospects overall ,some good CBs, AND in plug and play OL for there not to be any left by the time we get to 34.

6 CBs who should be effective or better year 1:
Isaiah Oliver
Denzel Ward
Mike Hughes
Carlton Davis
Joshua Jackson
Jaire Alexander

1 of these guys SHOULD make 34. Not likely round 3 though.

[u]12 OL Guys who should be plug and play (year 1):

Nelson
McGlinchey
Conor Williams
Isaiah Wynn
Will Hernandez
Billy Price
James Daniels
Frank Ragnow
Braden Smith
Kolton Miller
Austin Corbett
Tyrell Crosby

Will ALL be gone by 34? I highly, highly doubt it. At least 4-5 of this group should be there at 34. Could all these guys be gone by our top of 3 pick? Possible, or 1 or 2 may slip through.

9 Guys who COULD play effectively year 1 (or may need a year of development):

Martinas Rankins
Orlando Brown( yes I still think he has a chance to be a decent OL despite the terrible combine)
Brian O'Neill (but probably needs a year of development)
Alex Cappa
Geron Christian
Desmond Harrison
Mason Cole
Brandon Parker
Skyler Phillips

Half or more of these guys WILL be available round 3. And with Gettlemans eye for OL talent ,he likely will pluck a good one that may be able to start right away.

Gotta go offensive line...

...second round with the 34th pick.

No questions asked.

Eli needs a brand spanking new wall around him that will calm his nerves.
I disagree our RB's stink !
Bluesbreaker : 4/22/2018 6:57 pm : link

I wouldn't consider another RB if we took Barkley

If we don't take Barley Guice or Nick Chub I have little faith in what we have at RB right now . There are some good backs coming out we need one !
Gallman is Ok but we need better quality than Wayne .
OL
Nomad Crow on the Madison : 4/22/2018 8:13 pm : link
in the second round and probably one of the third round picks, though I doubt DG will do that. He will want a CB and DE in the third. Ultimately, we cannot fix everything in one draft. But we have a good opportunity to fix the OL and that should be priority #1 -- after drafting Rosen in Round 1.
While I prefer to take an OL in round 2
Jay on the Island : 4/22/2018 8:47 pm : link
If Isaiah Oliver is there you have to take him. CB is a huge need due to the uncertainty of Eli Apple. Even if Apple works out the lack of depth at CB is concerning. Gay, Deayon, Riley, Williams, Dixon, and Webb is hardly an exciting group. I expect at least one CB drafted on day two.

Really, really like Oliver. Now if we accumulate picks itd be easy to pull this off and still get good OL.

However there should still be good OL at the top of the 3rd.
In that scenario id probably tale Hernandez
sharpshooter66 : 12:25 am : link
and follow with a cluster of OL, DB and LB
Hernandez.....
Reb8thVA : 1:44 am : link
He’s not a reach under that scenario. Enough pussy footing around fix the OL. Develop a running game and go back to the play action that Eli excels at. Even if you draft Darnold you have to protect him. I’m not downplaying CB but I’m willing to take the risk there. Draft a CB later or wait till next year.
In your scenario
Peppers : 6:23 am : link
Will Hernandez however I think it's unlikely he gets there.

Prospects NYG may like rd 2 who aren't getting much buzz around here

Frank Ragnow C/G
Lorenzo Carter EDGE
Taven Bryan DL
DJ Chark WR

Martinas Rankin and Austin Corbett are two guys NFL people like better than most draftniks.
