after Dorsey's press conference where he listed what they are looking for in a QB: accurate, and winner, etc. and some theorizing that sounds like Mayfield. I'm not sure how much is actually coming from informed sources rather than speculation in response to the press conference.
Mayfield is going to be good. He needs the right system and environment. Cleveland would love the guy...just like they would have loved Manziel if he had not been a drunk fool.
can't see it. Not after Manziel. Much too risky, especially for the Browns, who haven't had a QB for decades. I agree with whoever said this is to try and entice the Jets to trade up. But they'd be idiots to do so. They know they'll get one of the "big four," and a trade up to #1 would be insanely expensive.
is to Draft a qb at 1(Mayfield) then trade up from 4 to 2 to take Barkley. Giants have their choice of Darnold, Rosen, Allen or Chubbs at 4.
Or they continue to trade down.
Even the Mayfield is way better than Johnny Manziel, just the physical comparisons would never sell to their fan base. Haslam their owner is sold on Darnold.
until the third round - tops. There has so many issues with him - on the field and off the field - that he's the LAST person to pick #1.
I agree. I've been vocal about being anti-Mayfield and it really isn't me just hating the guy, but I just cannot see him being a successful NFL QB with the way he operates. It's one thing to have a chip on your shoulder. It becomes a negative when you are constantly a dick about every single thing. It will wear out pretty quickly in the NFL with real professionals.
Said you wouldn't go and grab Tyrod Taylor unless you are drafting someone with a similar style of play.
Which makes sense.
However, the once connection that gets lost is Hue Jackson at USC. He was their in their hey day under Carol. I think he might want the Darnold more, but who knows how much say he has under this new GM.
Pushing for a trade ip
Hopefully the Giants would trade down in this scenario and not draft Darnold. His insane amount of turnovers in college are a huge red flag.
Or they continue to trade down.
FYI- he also LOVES Barkley and sees him as the Giants guy, regardless of Darnold being there or not.

I wouldn't put any stock into what Weiss says, he is a horrible listen in the morning.
Giants aren't picking Mayfield.
They could have stayed at 6 and probably gotten Mayfield.
With that said, I wouldn't put anything past Cleveland - even with Dorsey there...

Huge red flag? And Eli being the turn over machine that he has been most of his career means what kind of flag?
