Marchand has the story in the Post and there is a lot of chatter on social media. Seems like Francesa is missing being on the air talking sports and is trying to find a way back on the radio. Even a return to WFAN hasn't been ruled out.

DIS IS A DISGRACE FOWLKS. DA AIRWAVES NEED DIS. DEY NEED NEW YAWK'S NUMBA ONE, UGHKAY?
Im not even a Mike guy but he would deserve to walk in there that way. That radio station is a clown show. Chernoff has never had to work so hard to run a station and its evident hes useless and has no ideas.
Ive listened to the new show only a handful of times. I really dont think its done well. However its early still. They need a full football season.
Evan is very good. I always thought hed get the time slot at some point.
New show has its ups and downs, Maggie is OK, Bart Scott can be funny and knows football but Carlin is a total asshole.
A national show?

Not sure that's the case. Could have been about money. If he gets a 4+ month vacation + much more money to come back, doesn't he win in the end?

away from one of the great gigs in all of sports media. I recall him in an interview (may have been with Simmons) where he alluded to how he cracked the code to making big money via podcasts or whatever...but he wouldn't reveal it and it would somehow play a part in his next venture. My guess is that the guys at CAA finally set him straight.

Doubtful. He could have named his price, gotten a reduced schedule, and whatever else he wanted from WFAN. But he thought the grass was going to be greener somewhere else.
For a station that is not doing well financially, unsure how this would work. Believe me, I want to see big Mike back, but if this puts them in an even further hole, does it make sense?

Also doubtful. There were feelings attached to this and he's alluded to being pushed out. Could be blowhard Francesa, but I'm guessing there is some truth to it.
People changing their minds doesn't always mean they failed to find what they wanted elsewhere. He has a huge ego and its quite possible people were tired of it. Now ratings are dropping and all can be made right if both sides give in, happens all the time.

where he did he mention being pushed out? If he was being pushed out, why did he consider staying after the Carton fiasco?
everything that's been reported since his departure suggests otherwise.

A direct quote from Mike: "This is for those who started this campaign in recent days." That is obviously different from being "pushed out" last year as you mentioned. It's nice you have an opinion - but those who cover this stuff for a living are saying the opposite.

I also don't buy that he couldn't get what he wanted elsewhere. Just my opinion, really not a big deal.

You can still interpret that either way. Mike might have to play nice right now, who knows. Something pushed him out, whether it was a contract dispute, butting heads, needing a break, exploring other options, etc. Classify that any way you want.
10-3 will be split between joe and Evan and the CMB show

Considering the fact that Francesa was on the air for decades, apparently very hard.

Um, no. You're just wrong. There's no other interpretation. You're just arguing for the sake of arguing and all over the place. WTF?
Last line in the article is a nice dig by Raissman:
No word on when tickets will go on sale for his next farewell tour.
Chernoff has never come across as being all that intelligent. Did he have a hand in the whole DLR replacing Stern disaster?
I just wanted the Sunday show back!

Dont werry, @ChrisCarlin - Only about a month until I take awf till Septembah!!
That's it really. I think he left because he's an egomaniac who didn't like being made fun of and no one told them to stop. He didn't feel important or the big man on campus anymore and hurt his feelings. But Mike is going to get the last laugh here. He'll probably get the pay raise he was after, ride in as the savior he always wanted to be and I can't imagine the program director who he doesn't get along with either will keep his job.

I really enjoy the morning show. Gio is fine, but it's the rest of the cast that make it fun. I heard they had down ratings, but was it that bad?
CMB only lost to Kay by .2 points, so it wasn't that much of a landslide, but they're tough to listen too.

due to bad ratings from everyone. I'm not a Chernoff fan, but I don't think he expected the morning show to completely tank and Beningo & Roberts to drop off with an additional hour (+ Beningo's health issues).

Down 2.5 ratings points - pretty big drop.
That compares to 7.7 and first place overall in the fall, when Jerry Recco filled in after the arrest and eventual resignation of Craig Carton in early September.
