I have not been as on top of the site as I would like to be and was wondering if anyone has any info to share from other threads?
I will happily delete this if it is a crap thread and try again tomorrow to see if more interest?
Cmicks? JonC?......Slade?!?
Hoping so!
There was a non confirm request by William Gay asking for #26 and was told it was reserved.
A 3 way trade with Buffalo, Cleveland and the Giants was also rumored.
Who knows what will happen.....
I hope Thursday night is entertaining and will last more than 10 min.
Right now - if the asshat's contact was a scout or one of the owners their info could be solid.
If their contact was media or agents, their info is no more reliable than what we would get on Twitter.
I'm reluctant to carry over grades on asshats from previous regimes. They all kind of have to earn their reputations as reliable asshats anew, imo.
because its not what the majority of BBIers want to hear.
I agree with you. Its interesting.
There didnt seem to be that much a BBI reaction when Sy graded Rosen with his highest QB rating by far in 5 years.
Vanderbilt OLB Oren Burks was taken to dinner by Giant coach(es) following his Pro Day and is on their board.
This is following the highest of recommendations from Vanderbilt QB Kyle Shurmur (our HC's son)
No question that Oren Burks is the All American boy. Very high character, outstanding student, team captain, etc.
I watched a few tapes, and to me his tackling skills are very average. Most sites consider him a 4th rounder.

The William Gay number thing reminds me of when Francesca said on air a rumor that there was a ton of New York Knicks LeBron orders shipped to NY for the day of announcement.
as the media has set it up as its
Eli vs. the new guy.
All hands on deck to win Eli another Lombardi
Or
Rebuild
I'm on board with Rosen, and I hope Colin is right. I'm also not naive enough to believe that Barkley is - without a doubt - a smokescreen. I just can't believe that with the Giants coming off a 3-13 season, that the new administration would think we are in a position to draft a RB with the second overall pick.

So you think a 3-13 team in one running back away from the Super Bowl? Seems like a stretch, I think they certainly will try to win, but I dont know if we are contenders right now. Eli is experienced enough and mature enough to understand that time marches on. He will play until he gets pulled for a better option. Rodgers sat for 3 years.
Absolutely correct. He acknowledged as much. He gleaned as much information as he could from his sources - which also said Darnold to the Browns despite all the Allen nonsense floating around at the time - and read the tea leaves, which involved the work we put into scouting the QBs and Mara flying across the county to have dinner with Rosen. But, as he said, there are never any certainties in the draft process, and those were his thoughts.
We have people parading around here as if it is a damn certainty that the Giants are passing on a QB. Could they? Sure. And I'm sure if they do, those people will come on here Thursday Night and say "I told you so". But right now those people don't know that the Giants don't want a QB. Or that the only QB they want is Darnold. Is it possible? Sure. But an absolute certainty? No. And I respect JonC and the others who have provided information in the past. This is not a knock against them.

Just saw this tweet from Matt Miller which was particularly interesting to me given what Colin had heard:

The late swing of information sending Josh Rosen to the Jets is interesting. Careful who you trust this time of year...but that pick does make a lot of sense for Bates' offense.

But the Bills General Manager recently denied a report that the Giants and Bills have the framework in place for a trade.
I dont get into that, but thats not true, Beane told One Bills Live, via Ryan Talbot of Yahoo. Im going to leave it at that.

Fwiw the color did not change with regards to free agency and the ability to dispel bogus rumors- but the draft as have mentioned - is a noticeable change
Sorry to leave you hanging Matty. I saw you and bceagle asked for me to elaborate but I didn't have the chance to respond. I since have but to save you a few clicks, whether NYG is there or not the consensus among the people I've talked with are saying they are expecting 3 QBs in the top 3..
Wont tell him even after the pick is made.

Once we get that, we'll know.
JonC has always been a good source of info here.
I keep hearing that, but I haven't seen it. No disrespect to the gentleman. But can you name me a time or two where he called something?

This is my biggest fear:
DG passes on Rosen who goes on to become a top 5-10 QB with the Jets while the NYG toil in qb hell.

Thanks so much for sharing, both you and Peppers. It certainly appears that there is a standoff between what Peppers and Colin (and the fact that Hitdog is hearing little) with JT Giants insisting on Chubb or Barkley. I guess we'll see who is right on Thursday. I think everyone knows where I stand at this point.

Stated that picks 1,2, and 3 would be QBs but he didnt say who or if the Giants are still at 2.

The maximized value of our #2 pick is a QB considering how much teams are willing to pay for someone they envision as the field general of their team the next 10-15 years.
If we have decided to go non QB, our ideal scenario is to slight trade down with a team salivating for a QB and then get Barkley. Next would be one of the remaining blue chips in Chubb/Nelson.
just passing it along.

Nothing really substantial yet from NYG. Gettleman is keeping his cards close to his chest.. But there's a lot of time from now until Thursday night. Lets see if something slips through the cracks.
I had the interest in Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson a couple weeks before the beat began reporting it this year.
But, things are different this year, between the front office changes and my friends needing to also keep things close to the vest during this time of change.
Also, to be quite frank, a healthy portion of this forum doesn't deserve any scoops. Problems that run rampant in our society are out in the open here, I'll leave it at that.
The thing about Barkley is he seems to fit NYG. He is super clean on and off the field. You can say RB is not worth the 2nd pick but there is no consensus on 1 QB. I think Darnold is the best from a potential standpoint. He has a play making ability but with that has turned the ball over a lot.
Rosen seems to be most ready but to me may not be a fit with his personality.
I know Eli is getting up there in years. I think he can still play at a high level. I also understand the need to get his successor. The biggest question mark to me is Davis Webb. It should prevent NYG from drafting a better young prospect, but are any of them better?
I don't doubt he's held in the utmost regard, but the value of a franchise QB cannot be overstated, especially picking in the rare spot of #2 overall. The question remains do they see one, word has not gotten out.
You're slacking. You had one job to do!!!
Lol, but I think your diagnosis that Darnold 1 and Barkley 2 is pretty spot on.
When you look at the totality of the team and how far they are removed from '11, Eli being the last remaining starter from SB team, the end of the streak and all they went through last year, the hiring of a new Head coach, a New GM --it's just time for a clean start for the franchise. The choice in QB and OC with histories in grooming QBs is not a coincidence and not about "fixing" your 37 year old QB or making a run with him. That ship sailed a year ago when they came in with SB aspirations that culminated in a 3-win season. We saw the intention to develop Webb a year ago. They'll employ same strategy now, only with a QB of their choice.
When you take a step back from all the noise around the draft, this is the one logical narrative.

Unless they really have a hard on for a QB other than Darnold, I dont buy it. I want Rosen, but other than reading about the attention he got at his pro day, nothing has been reported linking him to the NYG. All we see is its Darnold, who we likely wont have a shot at, or Barkley/Chubb.

Thank you, brother. Hope youre wrong about this years selection (I want a QB), but I appreciate the insight.

I'll be one of the first to say thanks to you - and all the others - who share the scoops they hear. It's what makes this board fun.

JonC, just know that I,along with much of BBI, am grateful with everything that you have shared. You are one of the bright spots of this site. Keep doing what youre doing.

But I have a suspicion the plan has been QB all along. The silence on the QBs is the giveaway. Consider why are the views on QBs such a guarded secret? Its not like we are hearing bad things, only silence.

2. Colin cited a source saying the Browns think Giants/jets both want Rosen and are angling to get a trade.
3. Rosen is only one confirmed to have had dinner with Tisch and John Mara. Mara flew to California for Rosen dinner but maybe didnt attend Darnold? (We couldnt get Mara in building for Eli benching and Tisch only attended 1 HC interview)
4. Giants have had unusual amount of assets into Rosen. He had 2 2-day visits including dinner as mentioned with owners and dinner with coaching staff. he was in for private workout heavily attended. Giants had huge contingent at Pro Day and Gettleman interviewed at Combine.
