For the sake of not creating another "look at me I wanna talk about who I think the Giants should draft" thread I'm going to try to NOT create this kind of post. My sole intent here is to realistically look at who we could take @ #2 and the upside each can have to our favorite team. Others that feel like chiming in, fire away.
Here are the guys I see we could take @ #2:
1) Sam Darnold. Best QB in the draft, with the most upside, yet not fully ready to play. Could sit behind Eli until he's done, and the reigns are simply handed over to Sam. I personally love this idea.
2) Saquon Barkley. In all likelihood, he COULD be the best RB we've ever had, and will have an immediate impact in the passing and running game, and also, if allowed, the return game. I also love this idea, especially if Cleveland takes Darnold.
3) Josh Rosen. Very similar situation to Darnold, but he's more of a pro-ready QB that probably doesn't have to sit a full year. With that said, if we pick him, I wouldn't hate it.
4) Josh Allen. Tremendous upside, but lots of knocks on him in terms of accuracy. It's been said that can be fixed, but can it? Just look at Kyle Boller. He also would benefit greatly from sitting behind Eli for at least a year. Ideally, he could be a good pick, but the bust potential is huge here. But again, if DG picks him, I wouldn't be throwing a remote.
5) Chubb, DE. Great edge guy, can rush the passer in a multitude in a multitude of ways. Can be the joker/elephant in a 3-4 and a true DE in a 4-3. I like this pick also.
6) Baker Mayfield. Skill wise, he's very talented. Off the field stuff, I have my doubts. But again, if he can sit behind Eli (like the others could) I wouldn't punch a wall with this pick.
7) Quenton Nelson. He'd be a stalwart on our O-Line for a decade. I'd like this pick - but I think we can get more versatile guys later (Billy Price, Crosby, Brown, etc).
So, in all likelihood, I think we get one of the guys from #1-5 if we stay at #2, and I would assume most of BBI is thinking the same way. In all cases, I think each one of those guys would be a great pick, but as we get closer, the more and more I can see DG taking a QB, most likely Darnold or Rosen over Barkley or Chubb. If a QB is chosen, the franchise is set with a player for the next 12 years, so as long as that player is a franchise QB. This is where we have to trust DG and his staff in making the right call.
IMO, if we get any one of those 4 guys (Darnold, Rosen, Barkley, Chubb), we should be very happy. Each one of them will make an impact and it seems they are all guys that could put the franchise on their back.
Furthermore, if we trade back to grab a couple more picks, and still get one of them, I'd be even more thrilled. I just don't want to see DG reach for a player a la Jerry Reese.
Let me know your thoughts, and please excuse me again for starting another thread on this draft!
I agree the Giants will pick either Darnold or Rosen.
Giants phone will be ringing - I hope they go back to four or five and grab Nelson and RB early.

i think the giants are going qb but i seriously would not be surprised if they chose Darnold, Rosen, Mayfield or Allen. I am guessing PS has a preference that he shared with DG. I don't think we have been given any indication who that is.

Who cares about a QB controversy?

Agree 100 %, i watched some film on Darnold and i saw the same. Mayfield or Rosen should be the pick if we go qb.

Kinda hoping I'm wrong. Instant QB controversy first time Eli throws a pick six. Is it possible Giants want Allen knowing fans will give him time ?

Exactly, who gives a shit if fans start calling for the rookie QB when Eli struggles. If the Giants draft based on fan reactions then we are in big trouble.

Don't worry they're going Barkley.

Hope you’re right.
The next best fit is Nelson. He is a clean prospect like Barkley and we need to rebuild the O Line. Not to mention he is a Giants fan.
The next best fit is Darnold. Seems to have the right demeanor to take over after a couple of seasons as an understudy to Eli. There are some ball security issues to clean up but he is a gamer and a winner.
The next best fit is Chubb. A relentless pass rusher with multiple moves, he can start from day one. I think he will be a viable 3-4 edge guy and in sub or nickel will be very comfy putting his hand in the dirt. Again, very high character and clean.
Next is Rosen. I think he will be a good pro. Having him in the QB room almost instantly gives NYG it's best collection on football minds it may have had at the QB position. The thing with Rosen is he will be a backup for only 1 year IMO and would probably mean the release of Eli. I guess it all depends on how well Eli plays this year. Rosen is a bright guy and seems the most ready to start.
To me, Mayfield and Allen don't seem like Giant types. I love Mayfields accuracy and Allens arm strength. Combine them and you have a nice QB.

Giants org is likely trying to honor Elis remaining 2 years. A QB at 2 only gives them 1 year. You dont keep a guy for 2 years under your QB that you pick at 2.
