The show that replaced him was terrible. Francessa is arrogant and unbearable at times, but when he is a better listen than most of what is on talk radio.
As soon as it became apparent that Carton was finished at the station Francesa already started dropping the hints about staying. He definitely gets the last laugh here. No two ways about it.
I don't know if they're friends, or if Mike just likes getting good tickets to MSG/Radio City shows, but the man never takes Dolan to task. He'll pound away at Mara and the Steinbrenners, but not a word about Jimmy D.

We get it, you don’t like him, that’s fine. But to answer the question his interviews are the best in the business, ditto with huge events (sports or otherwise), and is worth listening to just to hear him shit on idiot callers.
It’s entertainment. I don’t care if he doesn’t know how Al Albuquerque is.
But when it comes to big sports stories he is a must listen. I also enjoyed some of his interviews. His coverage of the Penn State story with Kim jones was by far the best coverage.

because he doesn't want to acknowledge that there weren't many other landing spots for him. He used to hint at this great plan he had to revolutionize podcasts, but I doubt he ever had a clue. He's kind of a one-trick pony.

Kim Jones would be perfect. Infact, Even with a doosh like Carlin, I'd bet that Carlin and Kim Jones would be doing better than the 3 headed idiot fest they have on now.
They all stood up for the station and took shots at Francesa after his TV appearance with Russo. And two weeks later the higher ups at CBS Radio shit all over them and bring Francesa back as the conquering savior. That is going to be one awkward place to be.
I can't imagine the program director keeps his job after this. Why should he?

I truly miss Fatty Francesssa. Kay show is as much 'morning Zoo' as it is sports talk. I get their friends, and light banter is necessary but there is too much shtick, little insight most times. Fatty is opinionate and an egomaniac for sure but I like the arguing with callers, I want some passion - no canned outrage but the holier than thou you idiot take fatty has many times when callers make stupid assertions.
CMB border on the unlistenable but I pop them on because they do talk lots of football so far. I find Carlin to be awful, Scott makes good points but makes to may 'controversial' statements which seem forced, and Maggie doesn't seem to offer much.

But Mike was a staple for me growing up listening to him with my grandfather when he picked me up from school and while I helped him do yard work, play catch, etc. Hes older and grumpier but tuning in when he bring his A game is must listen radio for me.
