Go on record... guy you want the least at 2?

DanMetroMan : 4/24/2018 2:08 pm
Darnold
Mayfield
Barkley
Rosen
Allen
Chubb

Who of the "realistic" #2 picks do you want the least in the group?

You anti Rosen folks are nuts

he looks and sounds like a franchise QB. Sure, durability is a concern, but it's not enough of a red flag to cross him off the list.

trade down and get Nelson and as many picks/ players as you can get. A strong draft could get us back into contention next year. Then we will see if DG is the draft guru that he has been touted to be. Good to go with ELI and Webb next year with an improved cast.

It is for me. If I had the chance to draft Andrew Luck right now, I wouldn't.

SHO'NUFF is the same guy who claimed that the Giants only drafted Clint Sintim because Al Groh and Tom Coughlin are supposedly best friends because they were on the same coaching staff, coaching opposite sides of the ball, almost 20 years before Sintim was drafted.

Damn, good memory! Seriously impressed. Or do you not these down in your handy dandy notebook of revenge?

And, yes, Sintim was definitely an Al Groh influenced pick... just like other picks in the TC era were Boston College-Syracuse influenced.

What? "Go on record" is a teenage girl term? Since when? Strange comment to say the least.

"Embrace a position publicly. For example, I want to go on record in favor of the mayor's reelection. It is also put as for the record, as in For the record, we support sending troops there. The record in both signifies either publication or public knowledge. Both expressions date from the first half of the 1900s, although slightly different phrases, such as put on record, are older. Also see just for the record; off the record."

Dan -

Sho'Nuff started a thread the other day for BBI to "go on the record" for who is quitting on Eli. There were prompt responses as to if he was a teenage girl. It must have struck a nerve because since then there has been other "go on the record" threads and Sho'Nuff's response/retort has been to ask if they are a teenage girl.

No disrespect to Dan, but this is a sports message board. There isn't any need for documentation or to go on record. It's not like this is a place of business where you need to CYA.

I think Mayfield is a very overrated prospect who doesn't have any plus physical skills. Most importantly, I don't think he can be a QB who would perform well late in the season outdoors in the northeast. For the Giants, I think he would be an absolutely awful fit. If you promised me he would play a minimum of 9 games indoors with Sean Payton as his coach, I would be far more interested.
Allen

Watch Mayfield turn out to be Drew Breese II
I am not sold on any of the QB's I don't think Chubb is worthy of the #2 ...
I want Barkley but a trade down makes plenty of sense .

So the giants are going to go from a guy who started 200+ straight games to a guy with durability concerns??? Highly unlikely

Davis Webb will be our qb for the next 15 + years.
The QBs all have red flags
fkap : 4/24/2018 3:48 pm : link
so it boils down to whether a non QB doesn't have enough value or whether the red flag of a QB is too big.

Barkley, Chubb, and Nelson seem to be safe picks and while the value isn't there, the lack of value isn't bad enough to be leaster than the red flags.

I'm scared of all the QBs, and it's hard to figure out which one I like least.

I'll go with an alternate what I'd like least. I'd like it least if a kick ass trade was available (especially with Cleveland) and Giants didn't take it. I'm not afraid of dropping to 12 if the haul is good enough.
At 2nd Overall

Want Rosen least. Don’t want Mayfield either.

Without a trade down, Barkley is my clear first choice. If Barkley’s gone and there’s no trade down, I’d be OK with Darnold or Allen if Gettleman/Schmur/Shula were sold on them. If not, probably Chubb, then Nelson.

I used to think he was a player I could see a NY Giant, but he is so egotistical. He doesn't seem like a NY Giant type QB.
That's what funny about this draft for me...
T-Bone : 4/24/2018 4:26 pm : link
I wouldn't be upset with any of those guys personally...

But the question is who I'd want the least... so I'd have to say Allen... followed by Mayfield.

Allen because I feel he has the highest bust potential.

Mayfield because I just don't like him as a person. Not feeling his personality. I get that he's one of those guys you supposedly love if he's on your team but hate if he isn't... but I'm not so sure I'd love him if he was a Giant. His attitude just rubs me the wrong way.

But again... I don't think I'd throw the remote at any of them.
Any QB
mavric : 4/24/2018 4:27 pm : link
will make me turn off the TV and watch baseball instead of the draft. No one is going to replace Eli for the next 2 - 4 years so a drafted QB would simply sit and wait until 2020-2022 for a chance to show whether he's pumping NFL blood or not. Not to mention, would probably lose out to Webb anyway and a couple years down the road we trade the QB for a 5th round draft pick in 2020. No thank you.

I don't want any part of Mayfield. I think he's decent value in the third round, but a ton of downside as a high first rounder. He's got more red flags than a public beach on a stormy day.

I only want three players if we stay at #2 - Darnold, LamJax or Chubb (reluctantly). Otherwise, trade out.

For the record, Webb threw at 59 mph as well... Not sure why I keep seeing people saying it was less.

Not saying anything about Webb being franchise QB, quality starter, average or a clipboard holder. But there is no question about his arm.

Anyone else but a qb is fine, but if they do, I'll "go on record" on saying they will be committing franchise suicide if Webb fails in their apparent and/or ang one of these QBs go on to be a superb franchise qb in his career.

and I'll go with Chubb. He's not a freak athlete and I worry about him even in a hybrid 3-4. He might be fantastic but questionable value vs. a QB or a potential big time RB. Worth noting Jay Glazer said quite a few teams are putting more value on the RB position with the emergence/impact of guys like Gurley/Fournette. He seems pretty tied in. Not saying the Giants are one of those teams.

He was my choice the moment we locked up the No. 2 pick and that hasn't changed for one second.

No need to overthink this. We have a 37 year old QB and a team with a lot of holes. Draft Rosen and have your post-Eli QB for the next decade.

Too many turnovers. Seemed like a deer in headlights when questioned at the combine. I hate his throwing motion and was not happy that he didn't throw at the combine.

If we go QB I would rather have Rosen/Mayfield/Allen over him in that order.

That being said my gut really tells me its Chubb at 2 or in a tradedown to 4 or 4.
