Looking for recommendations for non touristy restaurants in Amsterdam. Not focused on a specific type of food, just ones that will have more locals than tourists. Any other guidance for the city will be appreciated.

Seemingly restaurants open and close as frequently in Amsterdam as New York. Was there in May of last year and really good places I ate are closed.

If you're a foodie I would definitely go to East Amsterdam. More Brooklyn vibe, great ethnic food and best ice cream I've had in ages.

The restaurant is outside of the city center, built around a green house they grow many of their ingredients in. One of the absolute best restaurants I’ve ever been to in my life.

Honestly the raw herring from the food carts wasn't close to the worst tasting food I experienced.

Meat-centric restaurant with huge portions. In the center of the city where you'll likely find lots of tourists, but def worth it.

For lunch, walk the Albert Cuyp market in the De Pijp neighborhood and sample all the vendors. There is a stand of 2 egyptian (i think) brothers who make an amazing hummus and olive sandwich that was one of the best things i ate in the city.
I prefer the ones

I thought both were excellent!

Indonesian, sit down restaurant https://www.yelp.com/biz/aneka-rasa-amsterdam

Great burgers small place. Best burger I had in Europe! https://www.yelp.com/biz/burger-bar-amsterdam

Granted I went to both places after going to a coffee shop so my senses were uh enhanced a bit.

Get yourself a Hertog Jan and enjoy!
