London has some great restaurants and is actually becoming a bit of a "foodie" (I hate that term) city. I haven't been in a couple years so I don't remember any particulars off the top of my head but, a little research and you'll be fine. The days of everything being boiled until it's all a grey/beige mess are thankfully over. And as they have some incredible Indian food if that's your thing. Enjoy
One star Michelin....Gordon Ramsey place, along with Jason Atherton as part owner....on one occasion, had chef's table there...one of my top ten experiences in life....walkable from The Claridge's, where I always stay.
but I may go again soon and I was wondering if anyone here had been to St. John. It's a Fergus Henderson Nose-to-Tail restaurant that I read about and saw on tv (maybe "No Reservations"). It sounds so freaking interesting that I was wondering if it's one of those places that you have to try if you ever get the chance.
Dishoom is a good call, go early (like 5pm) to beat the line.
Padella is great for fresh made pasta, try to sit at the counter. Also a 40 min wait though at lunch time. Borough Market right there has good stalls, there was a immensely popular grilled cheese stand.
If you are in the financial district (Marleybone area)
However, when I go I stick to the Indian food (at one time they owned India so they have a lot of Indians living there), or teh standard UK fare (such as Shepards Pie, Ssteal and Ale Pie, Fish and Chips, etc). Also try the traditional English Breakfast (which includes 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, and toast
Google it
I found the food to be excellent.
