The meeting included representation from NFL owners (including Mara and Kraft), players, retired players, and NFLPA

“Let’s make sure that we keep this confidential,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said to begin the session.

So someone of course records the entire 3 hour audio and gives it to the NY Times.

This has some politically charged content, so not sure this thread will last, but I find the topic interesting.

Especially Pegula. What's he scared of? I thought he bought the Bills with pocket change.

Bob McNair is, well, consistent.

You better be f***ing nervous about your dying league with ratings plummetting by 20% in the last few years and Madden is floundering.

Dumbf**** Godell.

Some people really have an axe to grind with regards to good ole Roger. Right or wrong, this was done strategically.
Someone took notes?

No, someone surreptitiously recorded the entire 3 hour meeting on a recording device.

In the spirit of partnership at the meeting, the owners decided that they and the players should sit in alternating seats around the large table that featured an N.F.L. logo in the middle.

I am surprised one of the owners

suggested a players' march on Washington. If kneeling hurt the bottom line, a march would cause a meltdown of the bottom line. They should focus on stopping it and not focusing on it; any kneeling will continue to cause revenue issues.

The owners care about the bottom line, unless the players have a financial incentive, I don't think a collective agree could ever be met.

as a USMC Veteran, kneeling is not disrespectful. Throwing the middle finger would be.

If you don't care why the knee, you will not.
People are not turning off football because of the knee.
The only people in front of the television for the national anthem are fans of the team that is playing... they are going to watch.

Haha that’s so brilliant and simple and why the hell didn’t I think of this sooner...

Won’t happen because people can’t solve problems with easy solutions anymore. Nope, everyone has to get their pound of flesh.

First of all, not every NFL player is a millionaire.

And if they are why can’t they protest like a non millionaire?

Do you only want to see protests and commentary from the under $1 million crowd?
Just dont televise the anthem...

people keep blaming the owners
bc4life : 4/26/2018 8:02 am : link
it is the fans who are driving this. If the fans supported Kap - he'd probabley be playing.

They might have been egged on by someone (who I won't mention as to not make this poltical) - but people turning off TVs, not buying merchandise, cancelling season tickets - is a business nightmare.

Ironically, you have fans on the other side boycotting because Kap isn't signed.
A confidential meeting?
trueblueinpw : 4/26/2018 8:08 am : link
What kind of idiot would think any part of such a meeting would remain confidential? For anyone thinking there’s always a link between an enormous salary and intelligence, I offer for your consideration, Roger Goodell.
