that's fine
Pep22 : 4/25/2018 2:31 pm : link

Budenholzer
Fizdale
A SAS assistant
Jerry Stackhouse
Why
AcidTest : 4/25/2018 2:32 pm : link
would Wright leave Villanova for the NBA right now, especially the Knicks?
No surprise

NBA teams could potentially double his salary. He's not exactly a young guy. I think he ends up in the NBA eventually.
Knicks are just too far away from serious contention to get

a coach like that. Besides, he might have his eye on the Sixers in a few years.

With a healthy KP, Donovan Mitchell and cap space...now that would attract Jay and many others. Having very little chance to compete year 1 is a tough sell. But the Knicks pay big and have a game changing superstar provided a healthy return. That can be attractive.

He will retire at Nova. He has finally built Nova into a machine, he's not going to pick up and leave now.
Double the salary and ten times the nonsense with far less success

Knicks seem to be handily handling this search ver well..

Being ver thorough and not much has leaked about how the interviews are going or where they are leaning..

Seems after the spurs assistant is the last interview

As an assistant? I don't get the perception amongst fans of why Brett Brown is on the hot seat. He isn't.

Oh, he definitely isn't on the hot seat. But, expectations will rise exponentially starting next season and a Hall of Fame coach will be sitting 20 minutes northwest of the arena.
Argument for Marc Jackson
Vanzetti : 4/25/2018 4:51 pm : link
Knicks are not winning anything next year, which is all about developing the PGs and whoever they draft this summer. Jax is probably best guy in NBA to develop a pg since his entire career was on smarts and skill since he lacked athleticism

And if he costs the team wins, who cares? We want the team to win as little as possible. So give Jax a chance with the idea that if he starts Bible thumping he is gone at the end of the season. I see no evidence of his bible thumping when he announces games, so he can reign it on if has to

Not buying that at all. There's no proof Wright would be equally effective stepping into an NBA role. Philly is blowing expectations out of the water right now.

Is there a correlation between having certain skills as a player and instilling those same exact skills in young players? I'm calling BS on that one. Big time.

I don't disagree with your initial point, but what does having "proof" have to do with anything? That rarely stops people from making coaching decisions/changes in sports to get the hottest assistants, college coaches, broadcasters, or names.

As for your second point, I don't know if I would go that far. They have three of the last four NBA drafts' top players (pre-draft IMO). If the expectations were low, that's only because no one expected Embiid to stay healthy. Did anyone actually think Ben Simmons was going to suck?
Jackson
TyreeHelmet : 4/25/2018 5:42 pm : link
I still don't want him, but Scalabrine's comments about him really opened my eyes. The off the court stuff is troubling, but you have to give him credit for the progress and success of the Warriors.

It's got to be so painful for him to watch that teams success... He was a year away from a dynasty.

I said this the other day if there was no off the court stuff with him, he would already probably be the head coach

They were expected to be a 3 seed and possibly a favorite for the ECF? Bullshit. Even without embiid Phlly had something like a .600 winning percentage.

Teams relying on young players rarely perform well. You could say exactly what you said about the wolves the past 2 years or so. Does Philly have significantly more talent than the Bucks? I don't think so. Giannis > Simmons. Parker was picked before Embiid. Middleton was a borderline all star.

Philly was expected to win 40 games. They won 52 and Embiid had minutes restrictions for a good part of the season and still missed 19 games. So yes, they blew expectations out of the water, if they made the playoffs and got swept that still would've been a success in the eyes of many. Brett Brown is arguably one of the top 10 coaches in the league already.

Jackson would've never benched Draymond for David Lee. Draymond step is what elevated GS to what they became IMO.

Also means he has to have his next team lined up
