Eric from BBI : Admin : 4/25/2018 3:59 pm
FYI...
April 25, 2018 New York Giants Mini-Camp Report - ( New Window )
Running backs Jonathan Stewart and Wayne Gallman dropped passes.
Motley Two : 4/25/2018 4:39 pm : link

Should have thrown it to Barkley.
An interesting comment on the deep ball accuracy issues...
Dan in the Springs : 4/25/2018 4:43 pm : link
with it being so early in the season, it's very likely that timing, etc. hasn't been worked out between Webb and these WR's, especially where he's working with the backups. Lots of new guys there.

Or it could be something mechanical or worse.

Obviously I'm overreacting to the smallest nugget of news available, but isn't that what most fans do?
Good bye Barkley

If he's been working every day

like he's been hyped up to be working every day, there shouldn't be any "adjustment period".

Yes because all his receivers are in every day to practice with.
WTF is wrong with this guy?
Webb will be a great coach one day

What, it's the receivers' fault already?

without birthday wishes to Ereck Flowers.

Happy 24, EF, wherever you are.
Not related to today's mini-camp but
Jimmy Googs : 4/25/2018 7:21 pm : link
what the hell was the thought process in signing Jonathan Stewart?

What is the cap hit we are stuck with if we cut him?

He is here for 2018. Would be ~3.5M dead cap hit. Will be only about a half million more (total near 4M) for him to play all the games.

He is an easy cut for 2019.

It really is a head-shaker for a 31 yo who averaged 3.4 YPC and caught 8 balls. But he's a Friend of Dave and Mr. G is a genius as a long as he's undefeated as NYG GM.

I guess if the box was stacked to stop Barkley then the WRs would have been more open.

Veteran locker room presence and he is decent in short yardage situations which has been a problem for a while. I think he is overpaid though, don’t get me wrong. Could have just signed Blount for less.
Veteran locker room presence...

When the hell is that going to be covered by the $20 mill guy playing QB?

Every GM and every head coach who buys into "culture"
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/25/2018 8:06 pm : link
brings in their favorite guys. It's standard practice across the league.
Fair enough.
Jimmy Googs : 4/25/2018 8:10 pm : link
Expensive lesson in culture though for a washed up RB
I agree. But it does happen.
Ten Ton Hammer : 4/25/2018 8:14 pm : link
If you buy in to "culture" you convince yourself the positive impact is money well spent.

I'm not one that buys into "culture". The culture comes from running a competent program that's winning games. If things don't go well and they're on pace to win another 3 games, no one's going to care how many years Stewart has in the league. It's not like he's some decorated veteran that young players look up to.
I agree that culture is important.
Jimmy Googs : 4/25/2018 8:20 pm : link
I disagree that we have to get a washed up RB to develop it.

I disagree that even if we do, how Stewart got so much.

I am disappointed that our veterans can’t see that it falls on them.

This is getting utterly rediculous no

picking apart every pass in a voluntary, pre-pre-season scrimmage.

Webb - ( New Window )

But can be throw it from his own end zone to their 10? If he can't, they gotta go QB; he's useless.
Has anyone commented on why Damon Harrison is a no-show?
kinard : 4/26/2018 2:42 pm : link
... I get that it's voluntary, but it seems out of character for him not be at mini-camp - particularly with a new coach and a new defensive coordinator.
