And when people would come and ask for the best COUGH medicine he would turn and ask me what we had a ton of in the basement. It salad all the same just different brands better flavour different costs
Zinc lozenges (you already said too late)
Vitamin C pills
Eat raw crushed garlic (crush it with flat part of knife)
Glass of hot water + 2 tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar + honey
Lots of water
Throat Comfort Tea
Sleep
Rest
Do it every day. Forever. Make it a part of your morning routine. I promise it will help you dramatically. Fuck those stupid over the counter meds that won’t work.
By the netipot pack for a few bucks— boil water in a tea pot let it cool and use two packets every day. I nuke the cooled water 30 seconds or so just so it’s not too cold.
Trust me the shit works wonders. I have a deviated septum my sinuses fucking blow. Not nearly as bad anymore.
I do use dymista once a day ( they advice twice a day) Â
But I’m done with the Flonase and others. And only once a day dymista. I was doing that or flo twice daily and trying all sorts of crap along with it. Masked the issues didn’t really help. Neti pot.
For whatever reason alka seltzer severe cold and flu Â

OTC products including generics all use the same active ingredient. For example acedamephrine for pain relief, dextromethorophan for cough etc. The FDA has a very limited number of approved actives for these products. Having worked for 10 years in the cough cold division for Novartis OTC I can tell you with certainty the actives are identical.
If you're looking to save money go with generics. If you prefer a delivery system e.g syrup, capsule caplet this is where your choice should lie.
If you are treating allergies it’s a little different. You have your original antihistamines (Benadryl), your newer ones (Allegra, zyrtec, Claritin), and your intercortical steroids (flonase). The antihistamines act fast and new age ones don’t make you drowsy like Benadryl whereas the Flonases of the world will be very effective after they build up in your system. Someone alluded to it but dymista is only product to my knowledge that has both in it but it is a prescription still. The obvious alternative is just taking Allegra and Flonase daily through allergy season although studies show somewhat diminished efficacy of both drugs when you do that.
You can also get some of the allergy vaccinations/shots/tabs at your allergist that will be more effective than the OTC stuff.
Generally speaking if you are taking an easily replicated molecule I wouldn’t worry about generics, but I wouldn’t ever trust them for a serious medication since the quality standards are simply not the same.

I did a print ad for Dymista! True story!
Gotta admit Dymista was better than all the other crap. Good job!
To add to the original question cold and allergies are very different. Which do you currently have?
I dont recall the agency - I was one of the print models. It was 4 yrs ago - it was of me simulating getting punched in the nose by a fist made of allergy particles. Was a pop up online up until last yr.
Useless against flu / strep
mix and heat enough to dissolve ingredients
Swallow. Repeat until you feel better or pass out
What medication you need depends on what you’re trying to treat. All-in-ones are generally not a good treatment.

Perhaps a couple of shots of single malt?
Works for me so that's all I care about.

Has been clinically shown to do absolutely nothing in preventing or treating a cold.

Though you need to do it when you feel the cold coming on
